Course Comparison

  • MA Statistics VS MSc Statistics:

?There are two major degrees in the domain of Statistics studies, i.e. Master of Arts in Statistics and Master of Science in Statistics. Mostly, colleges offer the latter course more as compared to the MA course.

Although the subjects included in these two courses are same, there are minor differences between them. Below we have discussed them:

Parameters MA Statistics MSc Statistics
Degree Type Master of Arts Master of Science
Eligibility Graduation in Statistics or one of the subjects should be Statistics at graduate level B.Sc. in Statistics / Mathematics / Statistics with Computer Applications
Specificity Domain-specific; Almost all the subjects taught are directly related to understanding, usage and applicability of Statistics such as Statistical Theories, Methodologies and Applications. Subjects included may be either directly or indirectly related to Statistics, and includes subjects such as Environmental Statistics
Accessibility Fewer colleges provide this program as compared to MSc Statistics, such as BHU, University of Lucknow, etc. This is because many universities offer Statistics course from Department of Science instead of Department of Arts/ Humanities This course is offered in almost all the Science colleges including Delhi University, Loyola College, IIHMR University, etc. Many students prefer this course over a MA degree.
Fees Under INR 80,000 Under INR 1 Lakh

Students think that future scope of MSc Statistics is better, but such is not the case. Career Options are almost same after completing the course which includes that of Data Analyst, Risk Analyst, Biostatistician, Data Scientist, Analytics Consultant, Biostatistician, SAS Programmer, Statistical Analyst, Analytics Manager, etc.
