Most of the colleges offering MBA in Hospital Administration entail a deep understanding of management principles in the first year of the program. Students are taught concepts of economics, statistics, mathematics, marketing, finance, and human resources from the grassroots level. 

The second semester focuses on the hospital administration and the topics related to it such as health policies, clinical services, financial planning, medical laws, principles of management, etc.

Finance for Health Administration Course It focuses on the evaluation of financial performance, budget capital. Students are also taught about fair and just practices that are applicable to the healthcare environment.
Human Resources in Health Care Course It focuses on the ways to run the operations of the hospital and skills associated with recruiting, training and retaining good employees are taught on this subject.
Operations Management It focuses on process analysis and hospital operations planning. It majorly deals with the issue of staff capacity planning and scheduling to run the day-to-day operations smoothly.
Medical-Legal Issues It focuses on issues such as medical negligence, consumer protection, and constitutional mandate. Students will study laws associated with euthanasia, organ donation, new developments in biotechnology, surrogacy, sex determination of foetus, and various other topics that are protected under the legal framework defined by the Indian Constitution.

Each semester consists of theory papers and a paper which consists of a project report on practical training up to Semester III. The candidate will have to take up a dissertation and carry out a detailed study on any issue/functional area of a hospital in semester IV. Students are also required to go for hospital training during the course.
