Master of Engineering (ME) in Civil Engineering is a Post Graduate (PG) course in the domain of engineering with a specialization in the field of Civil engineering. The course is of 2 year duration divided into four semesters

Some of the popular colleges offering the course are:

The fee for the course varies between INR 50,000 to INR 2, 50,000 in India. The variation in fee is based on the location and nature of university (that is government, state/private/deemed etc.).

Admissions to the course involve both Common Entrance Test (CET) based selection method as well as merit-based selection criteria that is the percentage of marks obtained at Under Graduate (UG) level. Most of the colleges who provide admissions through CET mechanism rely on the score of All India level common entrance exams like GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering) while a select few opt for a separate entrance exam of their own.

A minimum of 50% (relaxable for reserved category candidates) marks at UG level is the least which almost all the institutes desire from applying candidates (in the form of eligibility criterion).

The course is aimed at providing domain-specific skills and knowledge to the master’s level students so as to equip them with a holistic knowledge of the subject that will enable them to persecute the learning in the practical sense.

Post Graduates in Civil Engineering have a wide range of job opportunities like Construction engineer, water resource manager, structural engineer, quantity surveyor etc. Once completed, post-graduation one may pursue further studies like M.Phil and Ph.D. in the said subject or may take up job opportunities associated. Ques. Which is better after graduate in civil: an M.Tech in transportation engineering from an IIT, or construction management from an IIT or NICMAR?

● Top Answer By Debdeep Majumder on 23 Sept 21

Ans. IIT Delhi and IIT Madras offer a Post-Graduation in Construction Technology and Management. To secure a seat at either of the institutes, you must obtain a good rank in the GATE examination. IIT Delhi gives more weightage to the technical aspects of the course, while NICMAR focuses more on the managerial aspects of Construction. The curriculum of the course is unmatched, yet the placements, at times, can be quite unanticipated.  Both the courses are quite equivalent to each other on various stages whatsoever. But, when the decision boils down to which among the both is better, then IIT Delhi might win the race. Now, the Transportation Engineering department from IITs is indeed a great course. The average package some of my seniors from this course secured was about INR 5 LPA. However, by all means, your placement partially also depends upon whether or not you are typically prepared for it. Read more

Ques. How is the M.Tech structural engineering placement at NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 03 Sept 21

Ans. One of my friends graduated from NIT Trichy. According to him, the placements for the M.Tech in structural engineering is pretty good in NIT Trichy. There is a separate Training and Placement department to look after the placement activities. Generally, training starts in the second semester. Every year, approximately 80% of the students get job opportunities in reputed companies.  They are offered an average salary package of INR 6 lakh per annum. Ques. Is a M.Tech in structural engineering at the NIT Trichy worth doing?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 31 Aug 21

Ans. Yes, you can definitely think of pursuing an M.Tech degree from NIT Trichy. But, always check the placement percentage if you are thinking of getting a job after your degree. The M.Tech is definitely better as compared to other branches like civil engineering at NIT Trichy. According to recent data, about 87.1% of students from M. Tech were placed in the placement drive of 2020. Categories M.Tech Structural Engineering at NIT Warangal Course Fee 1.48 lakhs Course Duration 2 years Highest CTC 12-13 LPA Average CTC 6.3 LPA Recruiting Companies Aricent, Honeywell, Ambuja Cement, Aditya Birla, etc. You can even do a project in your second year and that is completely dependent on your interests and the resources that are available. Each student is assigned a project guide who will guide you. But, it is up to you to make the best of this opportunity.Read more

Ques. Is environmental geotechnology (civil) branch for M.Tech at NIT Calicut good enough?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 20 Aug 21

Ans. The M.Tech program of Environmental Geotechnology at NIT Calicut is an interdisciplinary branch. In the first semester, you will be taught about Geotechnological Engineering and in the second semester, you will learn about subjects that are in Environmental Engineering such as Groundwater Hydrology. All in all, this course is more towards the Geotechnical side than the Environmental side. You also have to undertake projects. Usually, most people opt for Geotechnical projects. Talking about the prospects of the future, L&T has been the only recruiters for some years now they recruited very few students pursuing postgraduate.  If you want to teach this course in the future, then pursuing it will be a good idea. It is definitely a good course but not the best. Join if you are interested in the course and not for the NIT tag. Read more

Ques. Which is better - doing M.Tech from IITs or going for NITIE Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Zakia Parween on 13 Aug 21

Ans. Having to know some people studying in both these colleges, I can say that they are equally good. You can opt for any one of them, their respective programs are also good. They are recognized as Centres of Excellence by MHRD, Govt of India. The choice mainly depends on the individual and their preferences. You should go for the one you are enthusiastic about. NITIE offers 3 courses, where the selection is through GATE scores. These include Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing Management. These courses are a mixture of technical and business management. IITs offer M.Tech through GATE exam scores.  It involves core specialization and nothing about industrial management. So, the selection of the college and the course entirely depends on you. Go through them and then decide which will be a better option for your career.Read more

Admission :

UVCE is one of the oldest engineering college of India. It's reputation made be choose this institution. One can get admitted based on PGCET score and Merit. Based on the ranks, one can choose the course available. We had online counseling. once we are selected for course, we need to go through documents verification at CET cell, Malleswaram, Bangalore. We need to submit, verification acknowledgement, DD of Govt Fee + DD of College fee during addmission.

Campus Life :

Campus Life is very calm and cool. In two years of course I never came accross any sorts of politics or raging. Labs are good. Student can play cricket, volleyball. Debates, brain storming sessions will be conducted too. No gender inequality, no discrimination based on religion or race.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Feasible. Since it's government college selection is based on merit. Along with govt fee, college fee must be paid too. It's not too high for Master of engineering compared to other engineering colleges. I paid 50-60k annually, Which includes Exam fee + college fee.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course structure is ruined..the teachers themselves dont know what they are teaching..there are more Than 6 engineer graphics teachers but none of them really know to draw a graph..they always run for help about subjects during class hours..also the physics teacher dunno what she is teaching or the name of lab equipments

College Events :

No events are celebrated except college day...no cultural day..no sports day..and college day is just like a school day..few speech and done..and we gotta pay 6000 for college day..dunno for what..and yea they celebrated onam for nothing..it must be for attracting more students from our nearby state kerala..
