Master of Fashion Technology [M.F.Tech] Syllabus, Course Structure and Program Schedule 2024-2025

Course Structure

This course is aimed at imparting knowledge on technical and managerial knowledge of the garment industry.

The course delivery method for this course includes seminars, lectures, workshops, practical lab work.

During the semester vacations, the students are encouraged to take up internships which form an integral part of the course.

In the last semester, the students also have to submit a research project and this forms the syllabus for the last semester.

In the final evaluation, class assignments, end-semester exams, internships and research project are taken into account.

Syllabus

Following are the subjects that form a part of the syllabus:

Introduction to colours and their theories. Anatomy for designers. Display of fashion materials.	This course brushes up on the basic concepts in Fashion Industry.
High Performance Fibres	Introduction to fibres, their classification, important fibre properties. Man made and manufactured fibres. Regenerated fibres High performance fibres.	This subject is based on the study and importance of different types of fibres.
Apparel Testing and Quality Characterisation	Fabric comfort properties. Garment testing concepts, instruments and applications. Testing of specially designed fabrics and finishes. International quality parameters and various standards of testing.	Here, the students learn about the different ways and means to test apparel.
Advances in Apparel Technology	Innovation in seams, stitches, sewing thread, needles, marker, planning and cutting technology. Advancement in sewing Machinery. Various types of feed mechanisms. Scientific approach in sewing techniques.	This subject deals with in the knowledge of advances of technology used in apparel production.
Functional Finishes of Garments	Introduction to textile finishing. Concept of finishing of wool. Specialty finishes. Application of nano-finish, ultrasound, Laser, plasma Technology in textiles.	This subject is about mastering the ways of ‘finishing’ a textile product.
Fabrics Properties and Textile Designing	Fabric formation technologies. Fabric designing through fabric structure. Knitting Fundamental Stitches	Here, students learn about fabric design and structure and different type of textile designing.
Managing the Supply chain	Supply Chain Concepts Planning & Managing Inventories in a Supply Chain. Reverse supply chain. Supply chain in apparels.	This subject deals with the managing of resources used in the apparel production
Garment Construction	General introduction about various statistical tools and their usefulness. Randomized designs Introduction to factorial designs. Fitting regression models.	This subject goes into the study of construction of different designs on the fabric and the tools used in the making of designs.
Intellectual Property Rights	Intellectual property rights and its importance. Copy right, right of performers, broadcasting organisation. Trademarks Industrial design Patents Unfair competition	This subject is about the study of property rights used to protect the unfair selling and copying of designs.
Functional Textiles & Garments	Introduction to functional garment and their applications. Nanotechnology in apparels Protective clothing Definition of smart and intelligent textiles Environmentally sensitive textiles Smart Electronic Clothing Sports Textile	This subject is about the different type of textile for different purposes like sports or environment sensitive etc.
