Course Curriculum Overview:

I had completed my bachelor's in biotechnology and had decided to complete my master's degree in the same, as it has been a subject that had always fascinated me from the time it was introduced to me, and with the incredible faculty of Pillai college, the interest and the inquisitive nature has only grown over the time. For the B.Sc is 60 and for M.Sc it is 40, the number of faculty is 15 teaching and 4 non-teaching staff in the department which makes it well balanced and there have never been any delays in any of the activities be it practical or theory lectures. The teachers have always been ready to offer any help and guidance when I have faced any hurdles be it on the academic or emotional front, they have always been supportive. The teaching methods used are very interactive, videos regarding the topic were constantly been utilised, and reference books, were always made aware of opportunities available, all this always helped me in scoring good marks in the exams.

Campus Life:

ALEGRIA our college fest which has completed 10 beautiful years now has only grown over the years, it's a 5-day fest, and the joy and fun it brings to the campus cannot be explained it can I let be experienced, it's just mesmerizing. Bitfest is the tech fest which is conducted by the computer science and IT department of the college. In the library, one can avail the reference books that are needed and scientific journals are also available, books related to competitive exams and many more. Most of the classes are equipped with projectors which are used for teaching. There are various sports teams in a college, to which wall climbing is newly added. There are also clubs for dancing, singing, fashion show, acting and many more. Student council is the team behind most of the organisation work that is done during the fest and they are the ones that work day and night to make every event memorable for everyone that is attending it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Biotechnology was the field connected to every life science study and had my interest. Faculty is more than capable of managing the department as most are experienced and the new teachers always try to improve as per students' needs. As said above most of the faculty is experienced and each of them uses presentations, videos, e-books, etc. to provide a better learning experience. Exams are held well on time by the exam committee but as for the 4th semester due to the dissertation project of 3 months, it was a little hard to complete everything at once. But as the teachers managed to complete the syllabus, students are less stressed compared to before.

Campus Life:

The campus is great as everyone has a friendly nature and also annual fests like Alegria are held during the winter mostly. The library provides great facilities for books, computer services, etc. Classrooms follow cleanliness, sitting arrangements are good, and projectors are provided for ppt or video presentations. Campus supports various sports such as basketball, dodgeball, etc. Students help through various social groups such as for students undergoing depression, stress, or suicidal thoughts, anti-ragging groups, and many groups on social applications such as Instagram and LinkedIn, etc.

There were many clubs and social groups run by students for students example: Photography club, dance club, music club, etc. One club was to teach underprivileged children of workers who worked on the campus of the university. That is something I liked the most. Different sports are played.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

The fee was 70000 per year. I got no scholarships. The placements were not that good. One of the reasons for not getting the good Placement was the lockdown. Due to this we were not able to do an internship and did not even apply for offline placement. Stipend was not available for us.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I'm from a science background and am very much interested in Biotechnology and research. For a person who is interested in science research then biotechnology is a perfect subject for them. The faculty at my college was so good. Their teaching level of them was a 5 out of 5 ratings. Qualification of faculty, they have Doctorate in their respective fields, and their teaching method was so impressive. They were down to earth in clarifying the doubts of students without fail. Exams were held from time to time and as teaching was 100 percent perfect, it depends on the individual's grading power and presenting skills in the exam.

Campus Life:

During my college days due to corona, they are not able to conduct any fests but i heard that they conduct very good fests by calling celebrities. Availability of books and journals I rate it as 5 out of 5 because I did all my exams by sitting in library. Amenities in the classroom are good they also provided a projector. Sports like cricket, basketball, etc, and extra activities like dancing, and singing. They have an account on Instagram run by a student in which all college updates will be placed as well on the college website.

Ques. How can one clear the JNU entrance for MSc biotechnology?

● Top Answer By Yash Mishra on 10 Nov 21

Ans. Here are some of the tips from my friends at JNU that can help you score well in the entrance for M.Sc Biotechnology.  Clear your basics on core subjects like Biochemistry (Enzyme Kinetics, Bio-Energetics), Genetics, Cell-biology.  Practice probability-related questions. These are quite scoring and there are a good number of questions asked from these topics.  Ecology and Evolution are the other areas that you should stress. If your undergraduate study included immunology developmental biology then you should revise those topics well.  Also, practice from previous year’s question papers. Also, try to cover the last 5 years of GATE life science papers.  Try to do maximum number of questions in both sections of the examination.  There are very few seats available, so prepare sincerely.Read more

Ques. What is the admission process in MSc Biotechnology in CSJM University (Kanpur University)? How is the placement?

● Top Answer By Deepshika Singh Rathod on 28 Oct 21

Ans. CSJM University Kanpur conducts a separate entrance examination for M.Sc Biotechnology. The admissions are based on the merit list prepared based on the examination.  As for placements, there are little to no placement opportunities for Biotechnology in India. It is a research-based subject. So, most job opportunities are in the R&D sector. But India doesn’t spend much on the R&D budget. That’s why there are not many Biotechnology companies. So, the placement for M.Sc Biotechnology at CSJM University, Kanpur is not good. Read more
