Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Biotechnology) Syllabus, Course Structure and Program Schedule 2024-2025

Course Structure

The course structure of M. Tech. Biotechnology is designed in a way which educate students about the various biomolecules at structural and functional level helping students tackle technical and biological problems in the processes.

The delivery method of the course involves classroom lectures, guest lectures from qualified professionals, internships, industrial visits and research thesis.

Each student is allotted a project work in the beginning of 3^rd semester and it shall be pursued through 3^rd and 4^th semester. Project work will be evaluated through presentation/seminar.

Students have to submit their dissertation at the end of 4^th semester. Evaluation of dissertation will be done by presentation.

Syllabus

Subjects in the syllabus of M. Tech. Biotechnology cover topics which train students to evaluate the kinetics and mechanism of enzymatic process.

Biomolecules	Structure And Function Of Biomolecules, Bioenergetics And Metabolism, Metabolism Of Carbohydrates And Proteins, Fatty Acid And Nucleic Acid Metabolism, Biomolecules And Disease	To strengthen the knowledge about various biomolecules, their structure, function and metabolic disorders.
Bioprocess Technology	Enzyme Technology, Metabolism, Stoichiometry And Microbial Growth Kinetics, Bioreactors, Sterilization, Sensors And Instrumentation, Primary Separation Process, Secondary Separation Process	To understand the biological systems; and to understand the role of microorganisms in the upstream processing and importance of downstream processing in biotechnology.
R - Dna Technology	Cloning Vectors, Enzymes And Techniques For Cloning, Expression Vectors, Genomic And Cdna Library, Application Of Gene Cloning	This course helps the student to understand about the different types of vectors and their use in preparing recombinant DNA.
Bioprocess Modeling And Simulation	Basic Modelling Principles, Mathematical Models For Biochemical Engineering Systems, Superpro Designer, Matlab Basics And Data Analysis, Matlab And Simulink: Application In Bioprocess Systems,	To introduce the different aspects of modeling in bioprocess system and to familiarize the simulation of bioprocess modeling
Molecular Immunology	Introduction To The Immune System, Adaptive Immune Responses, Mucosal Immunity And Defence Against Pathogens, Immune System In Health And Diseases, Immunological Techniques	The purpose of this course is to provide thorough grounding in immunology
Advanced Bioanalytical Techniques	Advanced Imaging Techniques In Microscopy, Next Sequencing Generation Techniques, Nmr And Mass Spectroscopic Techniques, Hybrid Techniques, Special Techniques	The purpose of this course is to provide the advanced knowledge of spectroscopic instrumentation and methodologies, and with the capability of associating the most appropriate technique to the analytical problem on hand
Seminar	Identifying topics of interest related to the program of study and prepare and make presentation before an enlightened audience.	To train the students in preparing and presenting technical topics.
Industrial Training	Week practical training in Civil Engineering related organizations so that they become aware of the practical applications of theoretical concepts studied in the class rooms.	To provide practical exposure in Civil Engineering related organizations.
