M.Tech.ECE: Eligibility Criteria

Any candidate who has completed bachelorette in engineering or technology with an aggregate score of 50% is eligible to apply for this course. B.E./B.Tech can be completed under any discipline. Almost all of the colleges require the candidate to appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The admission criterion is based on the GATE score.

M.Tech. ECE: Admission Process

Most of the Universities offer admission to M.Tech. ECE on the basis of GATE score. Those without valid GATE score can seek admission on the basis of entrance exam conducted by the concerned college/University. Admission can be obtained on the basis of candidate’s performance in qualifying UG/PG examination.

Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) -   GATE is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE, department of higher education, the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India.

The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate education programs (e.g. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Doctor of Philosophy) in Indian higher education institutes, with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other government agencies. Recently, GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings (i.e., government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions.

Direct Admission

Direct admission through management quota is also available in a very few of the private colleges; most of the colleges have a strict selection criterion.  Government engineering colleges such as IITs, NITs, and IISc do not provide direct admission; getting a valid GATE score is the only option.

Ques. How is an MTech in communication engineering at NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 02 Sept 21

Ans. NIT Trichy has great placements for branches like CSE and ECE. Most of the recruiting companies give preference to B.Tech students rather than M.Tech. But as far as Communications Engineering is concerned, you will be allowed to appear for placement drives held by semiconductor companies with B.Tech students.  There are quite a few companies that prefer Communications students over VLSI. Many students end up being placed in dream semiconductor companies. Out of say, 35 students, only 1 or 2 are not placed. The placements are definitely improving over the years. It is advisable to have basic coding knowledge at least along with your core subject. That way, you will definitely be able to do well.Read more

Ans. IIT-M and IISC both are well-reputed institutes and good options to pursue M.Tech in ECE. However, IISc has a more enhanced approach towards high-end research in MTech. Both the institute offers decent placements for the M.Tech in ECE. IISc has an Office of Career Counselling and Placement(OCCap), which takes care of the placement of the institute. The major recruiters at IISC include Microsoft, Flipkart, Adobe, Qualcomm and government agencies like HP and Bharat Petroleum. The average placement package offered in the 2019 placement drive was 15 lakhs. The internship hiring of the 2020-21 batch had the highest stipend of 1.15 lakh per months while the average was 57,000/- per month.  The average placement rate for MTech at IITM was 66% in the 2019 placement drive. Ques. Which college is better for an M.Tech in electronics and communication, IIT Bhubaneswar or IIIT Bangalore?

● Top Answer By Neerendra Singh on 14 Aug 20

Ans. Both, IIT Bhubaneswar and IIIT Bangalore offer decent M.Tech in electronics and communication programs and provide good placement so it’s difficult to choose one institute over the other. Given below are a few factors which the students are required to consider before selecting between the two colleges:- Placement:In terms of placement, the average CTC of IIT Bhubaneswar stands out to be 11.5 lakhs/annum. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Oracle, IBM, etc visit the IIT Bhubaneswar campus for placement drive. Few well-known PSU named ISRO, IOCL, and ONGC were also part of the placement in 2019. Apart from the offered jobs, the final year students are offered internships with a good amount of pay. Highest CTC touched approx 39 lakhs/annum. In 2019 from the electronics and communication field almost 86% of students got a decent placement from the campus. IIT Bangalore showed remarkable progress by having 100% placement in 2019. Top recruiters were Accenture, McAfee, Tyfon, KayBus, etc. The average placement package was around 17.5 lakh/annum while the highest CTC was around 54 LPA. Eligibility:In IIT Bhubaneswar to get admission in MTech, a minimum of 60% marks are required in the Graduation level, and the cutoff score in the GATE exam (70% weightage), candidates are also required to go through a written test and interview (30% weightage). IIT Bangalore does not conduct any entrance test for the M.Tech course. The GATE result or JEE result is only considered for selection. The students are shortlisted on merit-basis. The graduation level % is also considered for the shortlisted students. Faculty:Professors of both places are quite helpful. Both the colleges maintain a high standard in selecting their faculty. Campus:The infrastructure of IIT Bhubaneswar is expanding and improving over time. The Infrastructure of IIT Bangalore is good and if we compare it to IIT Bhubaneswar, both are up to the mark.Read more

Campus Life :

Social life In campus is the too good environment is so pure. So much greenery and market place where everything is available nearby a historic place called Brahm Sarovar is there. People can sit there calmly and enjoy the weather forgetting all their tension. Time to time matches there for sports lovers. University has a huge ground and every sport is played. Even the swimming pool is also. Many of the students get admission to sports Kota also. There is a department in which we can learn French German or any other language its fee is apart. But the teacher is good.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Talking about fee it's 30 to 31 thousand per semester and hostels fee is a part which is 5 to 8 per sem. The hostel is too good. Very supportive and caring staff. Mess workers are so polite. They just need in return is that we talk to them politely and when food is praiseworthy then praise them also. Also, some scholarship is there for lower-caste students they have to meet academic criteria for that.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Qualifications of teachers quite good all were mostly PhD holders and with good experience. The college has digital methods of teaching also. There are almost 150 teachers for 4 branches of engineering. And in one semester there are three sessionals and one practical and semester exam at the end of the semester.

Remarks :

College authorities want to know more about your academic interests and commitments. Talk about the specific educational, research, and other academic opportunities offered by the college that appeal to you. Expand on this idea by talking about how these opportunities help support your future goals.

College Events :

Extracurricular activities are available to all college students. They typically take place on campus, but they are optional and do not interfere with your required courses. Extracurricular activities can include social clubs, sports teams, student government, volunteering, or even an internship.
