Ques. Is it good to pursue an M.tech. in energy engineering at NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Shankar Pandey on 28 Mar 23

Ans. If you are a mechanical engineer, pursuing an M.Tech in Energy at NIT Trichy would be an excellent choice for you. The program is well-designed and provides in-depth knowledge about energy systems and sustainability. The course curriculum is mostly based on mechanical engineering principles, which makes it easier for mechanical engineers to understand and excel in the program. NIT Trichy M.Tech Energy placements are also good, with reputed companies visiting the campus for recruitment. As a mechanical engineer, you will have many opportunities to sit in various company placements and internships, which may lead to a job offer. However, if you are an electrical engineer, you may face some challenges during the course as it is mostly based on mechanical engineering principles. This may affect your understanding of the subject and affect your performance in the program. Additionally, for placements, companies may not prefer an energy engineer with an electrical engineering background. But, if you are interested in research and higher studies, pursuing M.Tech Energy at NIT Trichy is still a good option. The campus has a solar energy lab and equipment, which provides opportunities for research in the field of energy. For Chemical and Biotech engineers, NIT Trichy is a good place to pursue research if you are interested in the field. The campus has good research facilities and provides opportunities for research in the field of energy, sustainability, and biotechnology. However, there may not be many core placements for these disciplines. If you are a mechanical engineer or interested in research, pursuing M.Tech Energy at NIT Trichy can be a good option. Ques. Which is better: IIT Delhi Energy Studies or IIT Roorkee Systems and Control?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 15 Apr 23

Ans. I am eligible to answer this question as my sister is a pass out from IIT Delhi, Energy Studies. According to her, the primary step is to determine what you want from your degree; is it a brand name you are after or do you want a better branch that offers quality MTech education? As far as Energy Studies are concerned, the career prospects from campus are bleak with only 1-2 students getting placed from the entire branch. This branch is suited for those who are preparing for IES IAS. This is because the workload is considerably less in comparison to other branches sparing you enough time to prepare. But if you are genuinely interested in pursuing a career in Energy Studies and subjects like renewable energy intrigue you, you can always go for off-campus opportunities which are in abundance. As far as Control System Engineering is concerned, you can find more job opportunities in the field for energy engineers than for a control system engineer. For either branch, the option of teaching as a job opportunity is always open and can be considered.Read more
