Course Structure 

M.Tech. Energy Engineering is a 2 year post graduate course where a student has to study core and elective courses, has to perform laboratory experiments, minor and major project work and industrial training in the final year.

Scheme of Assessment

During the course there are sessional and there are semester exams that together construct the scheme of assessment of any student. Sessional exams are of 40 marks for each subject while 60 marks are of semester exams.

This course helps students to understand the basics of ecology and analysis of its systems.

Advanced Heat Transfer

Conduction And Radiation Heat Transfer, Boundary layer flow with heat transfer, Equations of momentum and energy, Parabolic Equations, Explicit, Implicit and Crank Nicholson Methods, Heat Condition And Convection Control Volume Approach.

This course is to make students understand the basic fundamentals of physical behavior of conduction and convection.

Advanced Thermodynamics

Availability Analysis And Thermodynamic Property

 Relations, Real Gas Behavior And Multi – Component Systems, Thermodynamic potentials, Maxwell’s relations, Clausius Clayperon equation, Gas power cycles.

The course is about the fundamentals and properties of Thermodynamics.

Combustion Engineering

Historical perspective of combustion science, Types and general characteristics of fuels, Steam Generators and Accessories, Steam generators, Flame Structure, Ignition and Igniters, flame propagation.

This course helps to understand the combustion of various fuels.

Energy Conservation In Thermal Systems

Energy Resources Availability in India, Energy

consumption pattern, Instruments For Energy Auditing, potential for energy efficiency, industrial energy efficiency, Wind power, Wave tidal power.

This particular course of study is important to understand the need of energy conservation.

Renewable Energy Systems

Solar Energy,

Solar radiation its measurements and prediction, Photovoltaic conversion, Conversation to wind flow, wind energy converters, Biomass resources and their classification, chemical constituents and

Physicochemical characteristics.

This course explains various forms of renewable energy.

Advanced Engineering Fluid Mechanics

Basic Equations Of Flow,

Three dimensional continuity equation, equations of motion momentum, Potential Flow Theory, Zhukovsky theorem, Complex potential functions, Viscous Flow Theory, Boundary Layer Concept.

The course emphasizes on practical applications to understand the concepts of fluid mechanics.

Cogeneration And Waste Heat Recovery Systems

Cogeneration Technologies, steam turbine cogeneration

Systems, gas turbine cogeneration systems, reciprocating IC engines cogeneration

Systems, combined cycles cogeneration systems, Cogeneration plants electrical interconnection issues.

This course is basically about energy generation cycles.
