M.Tech. in Food Technology is a 2- year full- time postgraduate course divided into 4 semesters. As an academic discipline, Food Science and Technology is an offshoot of the discipline of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, and is essentially concerned with the technical aspects of food.

Food Scientists are responsible for developing new food products, food design processes for producing such foods products, making decisions regarding choice of packaging material, performing sensory evaluation, and conducting self-life studies of the product with trained expert panels or potential consumers, and microbiological and chemical testing.
