Ques. How good is an M.Tech in process control and instrumentation from NIT-Trichy? What are the job prospects?

● Top Answer By Vaibhavi Sharma on 10 Sept 21

Ans. Basically, M.Tech in process control and instrumentation is considered a multi-disciplinary course. According to some of my friends studying at NIT Trichy, a student gets the privilege to study varied subjects headed by different faculties like ICE and chemical departments.  Earlier the degree of the course was provided by the chemical department but now it has been shifted to ICE.  Usually, it has been seen that this branch seems a bit difficult to students as they need to study different subjects.  The difficulty arises when chemical students need to study electrical branches or vice-versa.  Coming to the placements, if you have a desire to get a decent job after the two years of your program, then NIT is the best place.  Starting from the second semester the placement committee develops certain skills that can help you immensely during the final placements.   According to the recent placement report, the following data can be tabulated as given below: Categories M.Tech in Process Control and Instrumentation in NIT Trichy Placement percentage 83.3 Average salary offered INR 7.84 LPA Median salary offered INR 8.50 LPA Highest salary offered INR 12.81 LPA Companies visited Tata motors, Veoneer, Valeo, Baker Hughes Lastly, we can conclude that if you are aspiring to pursue M.Tech in process control and instrumentation, then NIT Trichy is the best place where you can grow along with your holistic development, and get an opportunity to be placed in one of the most prestigious companies.Read more

Ques. What is the scope of an M.Tech in instrumentation at IIT Kharagpur with regard to placement?

● Top Answer By Nikhil Goal on 23 Mar 23

Ans. IIT Kharagpur is considered one of the premier engineering colleges of India and many engineering aspirants dream of joining this institute. Like every coin has two sides, this institute has a number of pros and cons that one must consider before making the final decision. Pros As an IITian at KGP, you will be privileged to attend the oldest and the largest IIT in the country which is spread across more than 2100 acres. It has the highest number of departments and intake of students. IIT KGP is well-known for its excellent academic environment that is promoted by extremely learned professors who are experts in their own fields of research. IIT Kharagpur has an extensive research-oriented approach that enables the students enthusiastic about research to pursue their passion here. They get to work under highly skilled professors or seniors in the form of mentors. IIT Kharagpur also gives importance to international exposure in the form of foreign internships, PPOs, and job offers. The placement scenario at IIT Kharagpur has been improving over the past few years and more students get domestic and international offers from MNCs, IT companies or companies, and Non-core companies. The average package of all the departments combined is around INR 15 to 18 LPA. Students are guided and offered a number of opportunities by the career development Centre, CDC of IIT Kharagpur. IIT Kharagpur also promotes extracurricular activities that are usually supervised by technology students, Gymkhana. These activities cover a wide area ranging from robotics club to social development club, music club to finance club, and everything one can look for. Large number of opportunities are provided in sports, ranging from cricket, football, basketball, badminton, squash, tennis table, tennis athletics et cetera. Some sports facilities include sports fields and an Olympic size swimming pool. Cons : The only flaw that makes people hesitate to choose IITKGP is probably its rural and remote location with a lack of transport and other facilities. This also limits the opportunities for students to a considerable extent. The girls-to-boys ratio is around 10:1 which is quite low for a coed college. There are extreme monsoon conditions that might be a problem for many. I am sure the cons are not strong enough to overshadow the pros and one should definitely consider joining this institute.Read more
