M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering is a 2-year master's degree program. Some colleges also have a part-time programme of 3-year duration. Students after completing their B.Tech. gets enrolled in M.Tech. program for higher studies. Minimum eligibility asked for this course is 55% aggregate in B.Tech. while it is 60% minimum in IITs.

M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering: Eligibility

To become eligible for M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering a student must have at least 55% in aggregate in B.Tech. or equivalent in appropriate branch, while IITs like IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Jodhpur ask for 60% in aggregate and a valid GATE score.

If someone has done his/her B.Tech. degree from an IIT with CGPA of 8.0 or above, he/she will get direct admission in M.Tech. and will not need a GATE score. Eligibility criteria is same for part-time M.Tech. course.
