Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Mining Engineering) Syllabus, Course Structure and Program Schedule 2024-2025

Course Structure

M. Tech. Mining Engineering is a 2 year course divided into 4 semesters. The marks of the students are based on their performances in Theory exams, Industrial training, Seminar /viva-voce, Dissertation and Teaching assignment/ Lab work.

The course is designed in a way which has all essential topics of waste management, mine closure and types of industrial disputes in accordance to Mining Engineering.

The scheme of assessment for M. Tech. Mining Engineering is 60% weightage of externals and 40% weightage of internals.

Syllabus

Subjects included in the syllabus cover concepts of equipment reliability, design and safety and risk factors in Mining Engineering with personnel management subjects as well.

The subject has elective subjects like geo-informatics, surface mine planning, underground planning etc.

Eco-Friendly Mining	Overview Basic concept Environmental Parameters Waste Management Mine Closure Environmental Policies and Laws	The objective of this course is to teach students how to make the mining process eco-friendly.
Physical And Numerical Simulation	Principles and Basic Concepts of Simulation Physical Modeling Boundary Element Method Finite Difference Method	This subject helps the students to learn Principles and Basic Concepts of Simulation.
Geo-Informatics	Introduction to Geo-informatics and its Application to Mining Engineering. Principles of Geo-informatics Geological Discontinuities Remote Sensing Geographic Information System (GIS) Global Positioning System (GPS)	This course enhances the knowledge of the student regarding Geo-informatics and its Applications.
Reliability Engineering	Basic Concepts of Reliability Design for Reliability Component Reliability and Hazard Models Reliability Assessment Approaches Equipment Reliability Analysis	This course helps the students to gain knowledge about the approaches and components of Reliability.
Safety And Risk Management In Mines	Source of risk and hazard in mines Accident analysis and control Cost of accident System engineering approach to risk and safety Hazard identification Techniques Risk assessment process. Risk reduction Safety audits and control Human behavioral approach in safety	The goal of this subject is to enable students understand the approach to risk and safety.
Industrial Training	6 weeks training	This training is mandatory for the students pursuing this course.
Dissertation	Submission of research paper	The students pursuing this course have to submit a Dissertation at the end of the last semester.
