M.Tech. in Petroleum Engineering is a postgraduate Petroleum Engineering course of 2 years. Course is designed to train professionals in the work-flow concepts now prevailing in the oil and gas industries, and to produce engineers that are fully prepared to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Petroleum Engineering is a program that prepares individuals to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of systems for locating, extracting, processing and refining crude petroleum and natural gas, including prospecting instruments and equipment, mining and drilling systems and related environmental and safety systems.
This program trains students in petroleum engineering and focuses primarily on exploration and production of Oil & Gas. Candidates gain a thorough knowledge of all major technical aspects in relation to the entire hydrocarbon value-chain and other aspects related to the domain.

M.Tech. Petroleum Engineering: What is it about?
Petroleum Engineering is concerned with the subsurface activities related to the production of hydrocarbons, which can be either crude oil or natural gas. Petroleum Engineering courses in India are a great way to kick start ones career especially those who are interested in aspects related to petroleum.
Petroleum Engineering, in other words, is the discipline in which the principles of Geology, Physics and Engineering are applied for the recovery, development and processing of petroleum.
Petroleum finds application in plastics, paints, polymers, soaps, medicines, transportation, cooking food in the form of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) or kerosene.
Courses in petroleum engineering deal with drilling, production, reservoir engineering, computer simulation and enhanced oil recovery. Course deals with all aspects of modelling the reservoir, studying fluid movement, and maximizing oil and gas recovery.
It is beneficial to develop knowledge crucial to value creation and the safe, efficient and environmentally-friendly exploration of the natural resources on the continental shelf.
This will help candidates in research, production and/or consultancy within a very international industry: petroleum production.
Candidates can also go for teaching jobs in colleges/universities after its completion.
