Doctor of Philosophy or PhD (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) is a doctorate level course which involves in depth study of various aspects of electrical and electronic engineering and generally takes around 3 years to complete.

Students holding an M.Phil degree in Electronics or qualifying an M.E. or M.Tech. Degree with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks is eligible to apply for this course.

All candidates except the ones who hold an M.Phil degree are required to qualify the GATE Entrance test. In some universities, the students are also required to qualify the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
