National Institute of Technology, Durgapur was originally set up in 1960 as one of eight Regional Engineering Colleges in India. The institute in its current avatar is a fully-funded premier Technological Institution under the MHRD-GOI offering UG, PG and research programs. Admission for the B. Tech degree is based on the State Rank/ All India Rank (AIR) of IIT JEE.

  • NIT Durgapur is the first institute in Eastern India to be selected as a Lead Institute under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) of the GOI funded by the World Bank. Further, GOI declared the institute an “Institute of National Importance” in 2007.
