Ques. Which are the most popular engineering disciplines, as per admission trend and job demand?
Ans. IT and Computer Science are the most popular and promising engineering disciplines in the current job scenario.
Ques. I want to pursue higher studies after my B. Tech. Which engineering discipline will give me the most scope?
Ans. Core engineering disciplines like civil engineering, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering will be a good choice in case you are inclined towards higher studies after your graduation.
Ques. Is a government engineering college a better option or a private engineering college?
Ans. More than a decision on government or a private engineering college, the factors that can affect your engineering education is the quality of teaching, and research scope for skills enhancement and innovation are the more important factors that should influence your decision on admission. At the end of the day, just a paper certifying you as an engineer will not help you succeed in your job but your knowledge and skills as an engineer will.
The campus life is the best thing about IIEST Shibpur. Since many opt for residential stay in hostels, it is heaven for them. The campus is always active and abuzz, especially after classes and during lunch. There are multiple activities all round the year which culminates in the Annual Fest REBECA and the multiple tech, literary and social fests like INSTRUO, OIKOTAAN and so on. The college library is heaven for bookworms. There is an impressive collection of not just academic but also leisure books. The best part about the library is its setting and ambience which can make anyone fall in love with reading and libraries. Classrooms are well-kept, and have necessary amenities like projection, foldable desks and storage. The college sees multiple sports activities throughout the year, from inter-hostel to inter-faculty and students activities. There are number of societies and clubs for you to be part of - photography, debate, literature, quiz, dance and what not.
Fees Structure and Hike Policy is completely as per the regulations of NITs and IITs because IIEST falls under them. Therefore, for my batch (2015-20) semester fees was 38.5k, whereas for current batches it is 68k (this depends on NITs and IITS policies). There are also additional costs in study because you have to (a) purchase stationery items regularly (b) stay in campus and endure hostel, mess and other charges depending on how often you go out to eat with friends, etc and (c) occasional case studies, tours and site visits. Of course, when you are staying in a residential campus there are other costs. However, you have the option of not staying at hostels and continuing as a day scholar. There are multiple scholarships to avail of by meritorious as well as needy students. There are tuition wee waivers (full) for most students. There are also multiple opportunities to work while on campus and earn a stipend of up to 10k (I have done this) every month.
The B.Arch is a 5-year course and the course curriculum is expansive yet very enriching. The faculty student ratio is very impressive, it is 2:1 for students to teachers in every batch. The faculty members are all highly qualified, with double PhDs and extensive on-field experience as well. The teaching methods encompass not just classroom learning but also occasional case studies, site visits, educational tours throughout India and multiple workshops every month. There are regular seminars and fora, about every 2-3 weeks for students to learn from professionals in the field and also reputed academicians. The term exams are held semester-wise (every 6 months) but the 'sessionals' are evaluated on a daily basis in the Design Studios. Although the examinations are not very easy to pass if you do not study at all, they can be cleared with flying colors with the right effort.
Annual fests and other tech fests are celebrated in our college very Perfectly. Students enjoys these fests very much. ME CLUB, MANAB RACING, HITIAN INSIDE ETC.
Fees structure is normal as other colleges Scholarship names - Oasis, Svmcm etc. Jobs- HCL, HPCL, TATA, TECH MAHINDRA, IT SECTOR COMPANIES, ETC.
I love this stream Student ration is wonderful, teaching staffs are really helpful PHd and M.tech Sometimes hard sometimes Medium
Placements are fair enough for cse/it and ece . If you are taking EE, ME and CI then you have to think about your self study because core companies are very less . And if some core company will come in that case they'll get very low packages. One benefits is that , there are lot of sales and marketing companies are coming in this college and they are offering quite good package around 7-10 lacs .
Okay so every student wants a huge campus, playground, smart classrooms. Yeah you'll get a good campus here . A small playground, but most of the guys opt playing in the nearby parks . Classrooms are well equipped with projector, AC, duct. Every year a cultural fest and sports fest is organised by College committee, so someone can participate in that .
Fees are too high in this college. If you are opting engineering then you have to pay something around 650000 college fees for four years. It doesn't include examination fees which is 2k per semester. As far I know no scholarship will be provided by college
Now I'm in 4th year student. I feel very much comfortable to our teachers , professor ect . The IEM - ME faculty is very strict . regular student , regular assignment , - with above 75% attendance . Mainly . Student max of a year 60 .
IEM - Kolkata campus is the biggest Engineering Collage of Eest Bengal . IEM have 3 campus 1. Management House For (1ST year & ME.EEE.EE with MBA) 2 . Gurukul Campus for ( IT.CSE.ECE)
In 7 th semester students are eligible to campus placement. Some company name for placement TCS . INFOSYS. COGNIZANT. COOLING TOWER . HITACHI. BLUE STAR . ISRA - STUDENT CHAPTER. ect
