AIPGDEE 2020 Application Form, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus and Result

AIPGDEE 2020 is a national level entrance exam conducted for admission to MDS Program in various institutions across the country. It is organized by AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science), New Delhi. It is one of the most coveted entrance exams for Postgraduate courses in Dental Science.

AIPGDEE 2020 Application Form will be available in the 2nd week of October, 2020 and will conduct by November, 2020. The Application Process for AIPGDEE 2020 can be completed in online mode only. Candidates can download AIPGDEE 2020 Admit card from the official site of AIIMS by the final week of November, 2020.

AIPGDEE 2020 is tentatively scheduled to take place in the 2nd week of December, 2020. The exam is conducted in the online mode (Computer Based Test). It is advisable for all the candidates should go through the AIPGDEE 2020 Exam Pattern before starting their preparation.

AIPGDEE 2020 Results will be announced on the official site of AIPGDEE 2020 in the final week of week of December, 2020. MCC (Medical Counselling Committee), Government of India is responsible for conducting the AIPGDEE 2020 Counselling Process. The seat allotment is done through Centralized Online Allocation Process.


AIPGDEE 2020 Important Dates

The Process of applying for AIPGDEE 2020 commences in the month of October, 2020. Candidates should go through the tentative schedule for AIPGDEE 2020 before they plan to apply for the entrance exam. The tentative schedule for AIPGDEE 2020 is mentioned below.

AIPGDEE 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates planning to apply for AIPGDEE 2020 should carefully go through the AIPGDEE 2020 Eligibility Criteria. The Eligibility Criteria for AIPGDEE 2020 is already notified by the AIIMS, New Delhi. All the important instructions related to eligibility criteria for AIPGDEE 2020 is mentioned below:

  1. Candidate should be an Indian National, Person of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) to be eligible for appearing in AIPGDEE 2020.
  2. All the aspirants should possess a BDS Degree from a Dental College recognized by Government of India under the Dentist’s Act, 1948. They must also obtain a provisional or permanent registration from any of the authorized State Dental Courses post completion of the BDS course.
  3. Applicants should have completed 1 year of Compulsory Rotating Internship from a recognized Dental college.
  4. Condition of mandatory 1 year rotating internship is not applicable for candidates who have passed their final BDS examination on or prior to 1988 and possess a BDS Degree from a Dental College recognized by the Dental Council of India and have obtained provisional or permanent registration from any of the state dental councils of India.
  5. Also, the condition of mandatory Internship of 12 months is exempted in the following cases:
  • Candidates admitted in the batch of 2007-2008 and have completed 4 ½ years of BDS course besides a 6 months compulsory rotating internship.

Those candidates who had taken admission during 2006-2007 academic session at Rajah Muthiah Dental College, Annamalai University and have successfully pursued and finished a 5 year BDS program without any internship.

  1. If a candidate is scheduled to complete the Mandatory Rotating internship by March 31, 2020, then he/she is eligible to sit for the examination. Admission for such candidates will be provisional and will be confirmed only after completing the internship successfully and obtaining a provisional or permanent registration prior to March 31, 2020.
  2. In certain cases, few Universities follow the norm that candidates already pursuing a PG course from their institution or some other institution are not eligible for admission till the completion of whole course. Candidates must clarify from the University themselves regarding the eligibility and admission norms of that particular University.

NOTE: The cutoff date for acknowledgement of Dental colleges from where the candidates has passed the BDS course and completed the 1 year compulsory Rotating Internship is October 31, 2020.

Eligibility for MDS Courses at Institutions of Armed Forces Medical Services

Army Dental Corps serving currently can apply for admission to Institutions of the Armed Forces Medical Services. While filling the AIPGDEE 2020 Application Form, such candidates should mark “Serving Armed Forces Dental Officer”.

  • The officers serving currently will be considered for admission to Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions mentioned below:
  1. Armed Forces Medical College, Pune
  2. Army Hospital (Research and Referral), Delhi Cantonment
  • The Directorate General of Dental Services would be provided with a separate merit list for “Armed Forces” category to allocate seats in the Armed Forces Institution.
  • Armed Forces Medical Services on the basis of Applications submitted by Dental Officers would allocate seats and select candidates for final admission process.
  • Armed Forces Medical Services should adhere to the rules and regulations notified by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India along with norms of the associated institutins.

Eligibility for Grant of Short Service Commission in the Army Dental Corps

  1. Candidates applying for grant of Short Service Commission in the Army Dental Corps’ have to necessarily mark the option “For Grant of SSC in Army Dental Corps” while filling the online Application Form.
  2. Army Dental Corps will be conducting the Counselling Process and the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of scores secured by them in AIPGDEE 2020.

AIPGDEE 2020 Application Fee

All the Applicants are required to pay the stipulated application fee for AIPGDEE 2020 to complete the Application Process. The fee differs for candidates applying under different categories. The AIPGDEE 2020 Application Fee is mentioned in the table below.

Note: The Application Fee is exempted for candidates who are applying under the Orthopedic Physically Handicapped (OPH) category.

Candidates can deposit the Application fee for AIPGDEE 2020 in online mode only via Credit card or Debit card or Net Banking. The Fee can be submitted after filling all the requisite details in the Application Form.


AIPGDEE 2020 Application Process         

Candidates can fill the AIPGDEE 2020 Application Form in Online Mode only. The Application Process for AIPGDEE 2020 can be completed on the official website only. The Application form would be available from the second week of October, 2020.

Stepwise AIPGDEE 2020 Application Process

Step 1: AIPGDEE 2020 Registration Process

The first step towards AIPGDEE 2020 Application Form online is the Registration Process. Candidates have to Register themselves on the official website of AIPGDEE 2020: www.aiimsexams.org .

  1. Candidates are can view the courses they want to register for by clicking on the Academic Courses Tab.
  2. Next, candidates will be redirected to the New Registration Process, where candidates should click on “Click Here” and read the instructions carefully.
  3. On clicking “Proceed”, they will be redirected to the New Candidate Registration Form where they are required to fill all the requisite details and select the courses he/she wishes to apply from the list provided.
  4. Candidates have to then read the Declaration of Eligibility Carefully and provide their agreement to it.
  5. Finally, Candidates should click on “Register” to obtain the Candidate ID and Password. These will be sent via email and SMS to the registered Email ID and Mobile No. of Candidates. Candidates are advised to remember these credentials for all future login and communication purposes.

Step 2: Changing Password and filling online Application form

  1. Candidates will have to change their password after logging in with the login credentials for the first time. They will be redirected to the “Change Password” Page. After changing the password, candidates need to login afresh to fill the rest of Application Form.
  2. After changing Password, candidates have to fill all the necessary particulars in various sections of Application Form. Candidates have to provide details of their previous academic performance in Qualification details.
  3. Next, the candidates need to select the AIPGDMEE 2020 Exam Center for appearing in the Computer Based Test. Based on the real time availability of test centers at the time of selection. (All the test centers are available on first cum first serve basis.)

NOTE:  In case, Candidates’ college name does not appear in the list then candidates should select the “Other” as option and mention the name of their college in the corresponding field. They must also get in touch with the Assistant Controller (Exams.), AIIMS, New Delhi along with a copy of Gazette Notification issued by the Government of India.

Step 3: Application Fee Payment

Candidates will be redirected to the Payment page after selection of exam center. Payment can be made online using Credit Card, Debit Card and Net Banking.

  • Candidates should fill all the requisite details and follow the instructions carefully before making the online payment transaction.
  • Payment receipt would be auto-generated after successful transaction. Candidates should take out a print of the receipt and preserve it carefully as a proof of payment.

Step 4: Upload Images

The next step after submitting the application fee is uploading documents. Candidates have to upload their photograph, signature and thumb impression to complete the application process.

Specifications for Uploading Photograph, Signature and Left Hand Thumb Impression

  • Photograph should be a recent colored size with white background.
  • Photograph should not be older than 6 moths from the date of Registration.
  • Signature should be taken on a piece of white paper (3" × 2" cms) with a black ball point pen.
  • Left Hand Thumb Impression should be taken on a piece of paper (4" × 3") with stamp pad.
  • Crop the scanned images as per the size specified above.
  • File size of the scanned files should be between 10 Kb and 100 Kb. Supported File formats are .gif, .png, .jpg, .jpeg.

Step 5: Printout of Registration Slip

The Registration Slip for AIPGDEE 2020 is an important document that contains all the details regarding candidate’s application and would be generated after registration process is completed. Candidates are required to take the registration slip and preserve it safely till the completion process.

Acknowledgement for successful online registration would be sent to the candidates’ registered email IDs. Candidates can check the status of their admit card on the official website of AIIMS exams.


AIPGDEE 2020 Admit Card

The Admit card for AIPGDEE 2020 is available only for candidates who are completing the AIPGDEE 2020 Application Process by the stipulated deadline. The AIPGDEE 2020 Admit Card would be available for download in online mode only.

Candidates can simply follow the steps mentioned below to download the AIPGDEE 2020 Admit Card:

Checking Status of AIPGDMEE 2020 Admit Card

Candidates are required to check the status of their AIPGDEE 2020 Hall Ticket on the official website of AIIMS after sucessful submission of Application form. If the admit card is not available on the official website then candidates have to immediately get in touch with the Assistant controller of Examinations, AIIMS, New Delhi.

They have to send an email to exams.ac@gmail.com with all the requisite details of the Registration of Application form.


AIPDMEE 2020 Exam Center

AIPGDEE 2020 Computer Based Test (CBT) will be conducted across 37 exam cities across the country. The applicants are required to select the AIPGDEE 2020 Exam Center at the time of filling online application form. List of AIPGDEE 2020 Exam centers is provided in the table below.

The candidates are required to select the examination city from the drop down list. Candidates are required to check the real time availability of test centers at the indicating their preference for exam center. Test centers are available on the first cum first serve basis.

The final authority to allocate the exam center is reserved with the Assistant controller of Examinations. In case of any unforeseen circumstances, the official authority reserves the right to delete or add any exam center.


AIPGDEE 2020 Exam Pattern

Candidates are advised to carefully go through the AIPGDEE 2020 Exam Pattern before putting together their exam preparation strategy. There will be total 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The test will be conducted in online mode and medium of the test would be English. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.

All the correct answers will be awarded 4 marks. There will be negative marking of 1 mark for every incorrect answer. There will be no marks awarded for that are marked for review.

AIPGDEE 2020 Result

The result for AIPGDEE 2020 is expected to be declared in the Month of December, 2020. The AIPGDEE 2020 Result would be available only on the official website of AIPGDEE 2020. The result will not be mailed individually to the candidates.

Steps to check AIPGDEE 2020 Result

  • Visit the official site of AIPGDEE 2020
  • Click on “Result”, available on the left hand side
  • Open the PDF file in the new tab
  • Check the results by searching for your name or roll number in the PDF format

Candidates have to check whether their names have appeared in AIPGDEE 2020 Merit List or not. The qualified candidates can download their rank letters by logging in with their credentials.

AIPGDEE 2020 Merit List

Candidates can check the AIPGDEE 2020 Merit Lists after the declaration of AIPGDEE 2020 Results. The Merit List for AIPGDEE 2020 would contain the names of all the qualified candidates.

There will be two separate merit lists – for candidates applying for All India 50 % Quota Seats and for candidates applying for seats under state quota. The merit list for both the candidates will be based on the merit of the candidates. There will be a separate merit list for seats under Armed Forces Dental Institutions.

Eligibility Criteria for Preparing All India 50% quota Merit List

There are certain eligibility criteria and norms that candidates must fulfil to appear in the AIPGDEE 2020 All India 50% Quota Merit List. Some of these criteria is explained for the benefit of the candidates.

  1. The number of candidates who can participate in the AIPGDEE 2020 Counselling Process will be 5 times the number of total seats available for allotment to qualified candidates under All India 50% quota.
  2. Candidates are required to secure at least 50% marks in AIPGDEE 2020 to be eligible for admission to Post graduate (MDS) courses in Dental Science.
  3. For candidates applying under various reserved categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC), the minimum marks required is 40%.
  4. The minimum marks required by candidates with locomotor disability of lower limbs is 45% to be eligible for admission to BDS course.
  5. The names of only those candidates would be included in the All India 50% quota seats who meet the basic eligibility criteria set by the Exam conducting authority.
  6. There is 3% seat reservation for candidates with locomotor disability of limbs in the range of 50% to 70%.

For All India 50% Quota Seats

The Merit list for All India 50% Quota Seats would be released by AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi). Some of the salient features for

  • Merit list will contain the name of candidates equal to the number of seats available for allotment in MDS course under 50% All India Quota.
  • A waiting list would be also prepared equal to 4 times the number of seats available in regular merit list.
  • List of qualified candidates will be sent directly to Medical Counselling committee, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for online counselling process.

For Seats under State Quota

AIIMS would also prepare a separate merit list for candidates applying for seats under state quota. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the score obtained by the candidates and details of State Code of Eligibility and Domicile filled by the candidates in the Application form.

  • List of Successful candidates from each State/UT is sent to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • These lists are then forwarded to the respective Directorate of Medical Education of the State/UT for the purpose of allotment of seats by online counselling.

For Seats under Armed Forces Dental Institutions

A separate merit list would be prepared for Candidates applying under the category of “Armed Forces”. This list would be sent to the Directorate general of Dental Services for the purpose of admission to Armed Forces institutions.

Tie breaker for AIPGDEE 2020 Merit Lists

If there are two or more with same score in AIPGDEE 2020 Exam, then the examination authority will follow a tie break procedure for the purpose of preparing merit list. The criteria to be considered for the purpose of preparing merit list is mentioned below in order of their applicability.

  1. Candidates scoring less negative marks.
  2. An older candidate will be given preference over a younger candidate.

AIPGDEE 2020 Reservation Criteria

There is reservation of seats for admission to seats under All India 50% Quota. Candidates can check the AIPGDEE 2020 Reservation Criteria and reservation of seats mentioned below.

  1. There is reservation of seats candidates applying under Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories. There is 15% reservation of seats for SC candidates and 7.5% reservation of seats for ST candidates.
  2. There is reservation of seats for candidates falling under OBC (Other Backward Castes). However, there are certain norms that are applicable for claiming seats reserved under this category.
    1. Candidates falling under creamy layer are not eligible for claiming seats reserved for OBC category candidates.
    2. Only OBC categories appearing in the Central List issued by Govt. Of India are eligible for claiming reservation.

  1. There is 3% horizontal reservation for Physically Challenged Candidates with locomotors disability for lower limbs. This category is further segregated for the purpose of seat allotment:

Note: The seat reservation for Physically Challenged Candidates with locomotors disability for lower limbs is applicable primarily for candidates who have locomotors disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70%. However, in case there are not enough candidates in this category, the seats will be allotted to candidates with locomotors disability of lower limbs between 40% to 50%.

The reservation criteria for Seats under State quota will be notified by State Dental Councils/ Counselling Committee.


AIPGDEE 2020 Counselling

The AIPGDEE 2020 Counselling would be conducted in online mode. The online counselling and seat allotment procedure for All India 50% quota seats in AIPGDEE 2020 would be conducted by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

The counselling process for seats under state quota in AIPGDEE 2020 would be conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education of the respective State/UT.

Documents Required For AIPGDEE 2020 Counselling

The documents required at the time of reporting in the allotted colleges is mentioned below. Those who fail to produce the requisite documents at the reporting will not be considered for provisional admission to the allotted seats.

  • Admit Card-cum-Confirmation Slip issued by AIIMS, New Delhi
  • Candidates’ Rank letter
  • Mark Sheets of BDS First, Second and Third Professional Examinations
  • Degree Certificate of BDS
  • Certificate for Internship Completion or Certificate from the Head of Institution that the candidate will be completing the Internship by 31st March, 2020
  • Permanent/Provisional Registration Certificate issued by DCI Or State Dental Council
  • SSC / HSC / Birth Certificate as proof of date of birth
  • Proof of identity

The candidates applying under reserved categories are required to bring the following documents:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) Certificate issued by competent authority in English or Hindi. Sub caste should be clearly indicated on the certificate
  • Certificate of Orthopaedic Physical Disability issued by a duly constituted and authorized medical Board
  • Physically Handicapped (PH) seats i.e., eligible candidates with locomotor disability are required to get themselves certified at one of the Disability Assessment Boards

NOTE: Locomotor Disabled Candidates have to bring their treatment papers related to disability, along with the reports of investigation, at the time of reporting to the allotted institute.
