AIPGDEE 2020 Counseling, Seat Allotment and Selection Process

AIPGDEE (All India Post Graduate Dental Entrance Examination) 2020 will be conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. It is a national level entrance test for admissions into the MDS programs in the country.

After the AIPGDEE 2020 Results are announced, the AIPGDEE 2020 merit list will be available on the official website and candidates will be able to download the rank list. The students who have successfully qualified the AIPGDEE 2020 Examination will be called for the AIPGDEE 2020 Counseling Process

It may be noted that the preparation of the merit list will be on the basis of merit only and the factor taken into consideration will be the marks obtained by the candidate in AIPGDEE 2020 examination. No other factor will be considered for admission into MDS programs.

Based on the All India Rank (AIR) of the students, the AIPGDEE 2020 merit list will be prepared. Qualified candidates will be able to download the rank letter a week prior to the start of the AIPGDEE 2020 Counseling Process from the official website.  www.aiimsexams.org.


AIPGDEE 2020 Counseling

The AIPGDEE 2020 counseling is conducted online. The candidates can access the counseling portal in the official website. www.mcc.nic.in. The 50% All India Quota online counseling for PG admissions to dental courses has the following basic steps:

Step 1: Main on-line Counseling Registration

This will be done by filling in important details from the candidate’s application form and admit card.

Step 2: Choice Exercising and Locking

  • Once online registration is completed the candidate has to fill in choice of subjects/courses and colleges/institutions in order of his/her preference for the first round of AIPGDEE 2020 seat allotment.
  • Till the deadline exists and until the candidate has not locked the choices, he/she can modify the choices or the preference order.
  • Once the choices have been locked no changes can be made.
  • If the candidate does not lock the choice before the deadline, their filled choices will be automatically locked on the mentioned day and time.
  • However the candidate can take a print out of the choices filled and keep it for future reference.
  • If the candidate doesn’t register and fill the choices, he/she will not be allotted any college despite his/her rank in the AIPGDEE 2020 rank list.
  • The candidate must not wait till the last minute to lock his/her choice and to take a print out.

Step 3: Process of Seat Allotment – Round 1

The process of seat allotment will be based on the AIPGDEE Rank list and the availability of seats in the AIPGDEE participating institutions. Once the candidates have been assigned to the courses and colleges, their results will be declared on the official website. The students have to report in the college with the required set of documents to claim their seats.

Step 4: Round 1 Result Declaration

The results of seat allotment for Round 1 will be declared in the official website.

Step 5: Reporting at the allotted Medical / Dental Institute after first round

  • In case the candidate is allotted a seat in Round 1 counseling, he/she has to complete the admission formalities in the institute within the given period and time.
  • Only then the candidate can avail the option of participating in the Round 2 counseling.
  • Besides the candidate must give the option of participating in the Round 2 while joining the allotted seat during Round 1.
  • Otherwise neither he/she will be considered for the Round 2 seat allotment process nor can he/she access the option of up-gradation of seat.

Step 6: Process of Seat Allotment - Round 2

  • The second round starts with a new choice filling and consecutive seat allotment.
  • There is no fresh registration of candidates.
  • Candidates who are eligible for Round 2 Counseling :

Group–I: The registered candidates who was not allotted any seat in the Round 1.

Group-II: The registered candidates, whose allotted seat is cancelled in the first round due to discrepancies in the document verification during admission. Also the candidates who have secured seat under reserved quota but have changed the category in the second round to unreserved.

Group–III: Candidates who have agreed to participate in Round 2 for up-gradation during the admission procedure of Round 1.

  • Candidates who are not eligible for Round 2 of counselling
  1. Candidates who have not reported at Allotted Institute after in Round 1.
  2. Candidates who have reported & withdrawn (Resigned) from counseling at Allotted Institute.
  3. Candidates who became non-eligible due to change of category.
  4. Candidates who have not chosen up-gradation.
  • The seat conversion from reserved to unreserved category will be processed during the Round 2.
  • The conversion of vacant reserved seats will be carried out according to the following algorithm after seat allotment during Round-2 to PH/Reserved category candidates:

ST (PH) -> ST

SC(PH) -> SC

UR (PH) -> UR

OBC(PH) -> OBC

ST -> SC

SC-> UR

There will not be any indicative allotment in 2nd round of allotment.

  • During the Round 2, the choice which is given higher preference will be considered for up-gradation.

AIPGDEE 2020 Seat Allotment Instructions

The candidates whose name has been announced in the AIPGDEE 2020 results can register themselves for the AIPGDEE seat allotment procedure online in the official website. Such candidates have to keep in mind certain instructions regarding the AIPGDEE 2020 seat allotment process which are given below:

  • They must keep the copy of their AIPGDEE 2020 Application Form and AIPGDEE 2020 Admit Card with them before they start registering for online seat allotment process.
  • They have to fill in certain information from the application form and admit card during the online registration process.
  • It is to be noted that the students must keep those information confidential as it will be used to register in the online allotment process. This is required so that no third party user can avail the information and create discrepancies in their seat allotment.
  • Upon registration the candidates will have to set a password. He/she must not disclose the same to anyone else to avoid misuse of the account.
  • Those candidates who have been allotted seats must join his/her allotted college/course within the given date and time mentioned in the counseling schedule.
  • They must not wait for the last day to join the allotted college to avoid any kind of hustle and bustle and also because the participating colleges are required to update information about joining/non-joining Medical Counseling Committee.
  • Important Information regarding the Online Allotment Process for Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates is given below –
  1. There are two different PH categories, depending on the level of locomotor disability of the lower limbs :
  2. PH1 : the percentage of disability is in the range of 50% to 70%
  3. PH2 : the percentage of disability is in the range of equal to or more than 40% to less than 50%
  4. For Persons with Disability (PWD) Category, there is a provision for 3% horizontal reservation.
  5. 3% seats of the annual sanctioned intake capacity are to be filled up by candidates with locomotor disability of lower limbs that is in the range of 50% to 70% (PH1 Category)
  6. If some seats under this 3% quota remain vacant due to lack of eligible candidates, then they will be filled up by persons with locomotor disability of lower limbs in the range of 40% to 50% (PH2 Category), before they are included in the seats for General Category candidates.

Documents Required for AIPGDEE 2020 Counseling

The AIPGDEE 2020 counseling with respect to 50% All India Quotas will be conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), Government of India in their official website www.mcc.nic.in .

The candidates are required to produce some important documents for the counseling process. Failure to present any of these documents may lead to rejection of candidature. Hence, candidates must have a thorough knowledge about which documents are needed.

Following is the list of documents that will be required in original at the time of admission to the college allotted through AIPGDEE 2020 Counseling

  • Admit Card-cum-Confirmation Slip issued by AIIMS, New Delhi
  • Candidates’ Rank letter
  • Mark Sheets of BDS First, Second and Third Professional Examinations
  • Degree Certificate of BDS
  • Certificate for Internship Completion or Certificate from the Head of Institution that the candidate will be completing the Internship by 31st March, 2020
  • Permanent/Provisional Registration Certificate issued by DCI Or State Dental Council
  • SSC / HSC / Birth Certificate as proof of date of birth
  • Proof of identity
  • The Candidate would need to produce the following certificates, if applicable :
  1. Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) Certificate issued by competent authority in English or Hindi. Sub caste should be clearly mentioned in the certificate.
  2. Other Backward Classes (OBC) certificate issued by competent authority. The sub-caste must match with the OBC Central List. The OBC candidates must belong to Non-Creamy Layer and the certificate must be in the prescribed format.
  3. Certificate for Orthopaedic Physical Disability that has been issued from a duly constituted and authorized Medical Board.
  4. For Physically Handicapped (PH) seats, the qualified locomotor disabled candidates should get themselves certified at one of the Disability Assessment Boards
  • The Locomotor Disabled (LD) candidates are required to produce their treatment papers pertaining to their disability, including the reports of investigation, at the time of reporting to the specified institute.

AIPGDEE 2020 Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. Will I need to report to any of the counseling centres for the process of registration or choice filling?

Ans.  The candidates can access the registration and choice filling processes online in the official website.

Ques. Do I require any documents to get registered online?

Ans- No, but the candidate will require some information mentioned in the AIPGDEE-2020 application form and admit card.

Ques. What documents are required at the time of counseling?

Ans.  No documents are required for counseling since the process is online.

Ques. Is there a maximum limit on the number of choices of Colleges or subjects that can be provided in the choice filling form?

Ans.  No, you can give as many choices as you want. However, you must ensure that the choices you have provided are in order of your preference.

Ques. How can I retrieve my password that I created during the process of registration upon forgetting it?

Ans.  In order to retrieve the password they will have to select the security question and the answer to it set by the candidate earlier during the registration process. If the input data matches, then the candidate can enter a new password.

Ques. If there is a discrepancy in spelling of my name in documents and application form, what do I do?

Ans.  If there is a discrepancy in the spelling of candidate’s name in the documents, the candidate must carry proof that the documents belong to the same person, in the form of an affidavit.

Ques. At the time of admission, will the institution retain my original certificates?

Ans.  Yes, the original certificates must be produced at the time of admission. These certificates will be returned to the candidates only in the case of seat up-gradation of seat or if the candidate resigns.

Ques. Can I get admission in an institute upon production of a receipt saying that the original documents have been retained by another institute?

Ans.  No, candidates must produce original certificates.

Ques. Is it compulsory to join the allotted Dental College in order to be able to participate in further rounds (2nd /3rd round) of counseling?

Ans.  Yes, in case a seat is allotted, candidate will have to join the allotted institute and complete all admission formalities. Only then the candidate will have the option to participate in next round of counseling.
