JEE Advanced 2021 is scheduled for July 3, 2021, however, IIT Kharagpur is considering changing the exam date for JEE Advanced 2021 as JEE Main 2021 April session has been postponed. JEE Advanced 2021 Syllabus has been released separately for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. With JEE Advanced 2021 official website now live, candidates can access JEE Advanced Mock Test for Paper 1 and 2.

As per the request of students, 75% eligibility criteria for admissions into IITs has been scrapped this year as well. Candidates only need their 12th passing certificate to fulfill JEE Advanced Eligibility. As per JAB, candidates who missed JEE Advanced 2020 can appear in JEE Advanced 2021 without qualifying JEE Main 2021. “Further, it was decided that these candidates would be considered in addition to and not as part of the total number of candidates who would qualify from JEE Main 2021 for appearing in JEE Advanced 2021,” the statement added. JEE Advanced 2020 was conducted successfully on September 27, 2020, more than 1.60 lakh candidates registered for the entrance test held at 1,150 centers in 222 cities across the country. JoSAA has released JEE Advanced Cut off for admissions in the form of opening and closing ranks for Round 1 –  6 have also been released.

JEE Advanced 2021 Important Details

  • In order to appear for JEE Advanced 2021, students are first required to clear the JEE Main 2021 examination.
  • Only those students who are among the top 2,50,000 rank holders in JEE Main 2021 are eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced 2021. 
  • Qualified candidates will be offered admissions in, B.Arch., B.S programs etc. in various IITs and other prestigious engineering colleges across India.

Exam Pattern 2021

JEE Advanced 2021 Exam Pattern

JEE Advanced 2021 will contain two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2, with two language options viz. English and Hindi. 

  • JEE Advanced 2021 will be a computer-based test. 
  • Candidates will be given a time limit of 3 hours to attempt each paper.
  • The test will consist of Multiple Choice Questions, Numerical Aptitude Questions and Match the cases from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • The marking scheme will be provided in “Instructions to Candidates” at the time of examination.

Ques. Why does JEE Advanced Pattern change every year?

Ans. The question paper of JEE Advanced is set up by a team of expert professors from different IITs. The pattern is changed every year to bring out the best students. Also, the judging parameter cannot be the same for an increase in the number of engineering aspirants. As JEE (Advanced) is a top-notch UG engineering entrance examination for admission to elite colleges. 

Ques. What is the pattern for AAT?

Ans. The test will be held in offline mode. The question paper is divided into 5 sections which must be completed in 3 hours. The language of the question paper will be set in English only.

Syllabus 2021

JEE Advanced 2021 Syllabus

IIT Kharagour has released syllabus of JEE Advanced 2021. There had been a buzz for a reduction in syllabus but IIT Kharagpur claimed that no such consideration will be made in future JAB meetings, and syllabus is going to remain the same. IIT Kharagpur has released JEE Advanced Mock Test in online mode, candidates can get a grip of pattern and difficulty level of the exam and increase their productivity level. The test is available for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates can access the mock test using their login credentials. Steps to access the JEE Advanced Mock Test are as follows:

JEE Advanced 2021 Eligibility

Candidates are required to fulfil the following JEE Advanced eligibility criteria for filling the form for JEE Advanced:

  • Only those candidates who were born on or after 1st October 1997, are eligible to apply in JEE Advanced 2021. SC/ST/PWD category students are provided with a relaxation of 5 years.
  • Both Indian and foreign nationals are eligible for this examination.
  • Like the previous year, 75% criteria has been scrapped for this year as well. 
  • Candidates are required to qualify for the JEE Main and be among the top 2,50,000 students.

JEE Advanced 2021 Admit Card

JEE Advanced 2021 Admit Card will be out by May 2021. Steps to download your admit card - 

  • Candidates are required to log in to the official portal using their application number and password. Upon logging in, candidates will be able to download the admit card. 
  • The admit card will contain the details of the examination date and the venue for the examination. 
  • Candidates are required to take a print out of the admit card and carry the same during the examination. 
  • Candidates must note that there is no provision for delivering the hard copy of the admit card via post. 
  • Candidates are advised to retain the admit card till the end of the admission process.

JEE Advanced 2021 Exam Center

The examination centers for JEE advanced are divided into 7 zones- IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Roorkee Zone. Candidates are required to select their choice of the zone and examination city while filling up the application form.

JEE Advanced 2021 Previous Year Paper Analysis

On the basis of JEE Advanced question papers of last three years, the following points were concluded :

  • It was observed that the total number of questions per exam has remained the same during the last 3 years.
  • The maximum number of questions had more than one correct option to choose from, making these types of questions the most important ones.
  • It was also found that the questions with more than one correct answer were the most skipped questions during these 3 years.
  • JEE Advanced 2018 saw a change in the question paper with the introduction of Matrix Match type questions and Numerical type questions. In the same year, single option questions and integer type questions were discontinued in all subjects.

JEE Advanced 2021 Score Calculation

For inclusion in the common rank list, candidates must have appeared in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Marks obtained in a subject will be the total of the marks obtained in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 for the same subject. The formula for the calculation of aggregate marks for JEE Advanced 2021 is -

The aggregate marks obtained by the students will be used for the preparation of the rank list. For inclusion in the rank list, students are required to obtain the minimum prescribed marks in each subject and in aggregate.

Result 2021

JEE Advanced 2021 Result

  • JEE Advanced 2021 Result will be declared tentatively in the 2nd week of July 2021.
  • Students can check their results by logging into their accounts on the official website.
  • The scorecard will contain the details of the marks obtained by the candidate in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 in physics, mathematics and chemistry.
  • It will also contain the total mark and the rank secured by the candidate in the common rank list.

  • JEE Advanced 2020 Qualifying cut off observed a dip in comparison to the previous year i.e. 2019. 
  • As per JEE Advanced 2020 cutoff, the minimum percentage marks in each subject is 5% to be included in the common rank list (CRL) while in 2019, candidates were required to secure 10% marks.
  • The minimum aggregate percentage marks to be included in CRL were 25% last year while it is 17.50% in 2020.

Counselling 2021

JEE Advanced 2021 Counselling Process

  • JoSSA will conduct JEE Advanced Counselling for qualified candidates during the month of July 2021.
  • Counselling rounds are conducted 6 – 7 times, depending on the availability of seats.

What is the difference between JEE Mains and JEE Advanced? How can I check my eligibility criteria?

Hi Simran, Jee Mains paper 1 has 90 MCQ Single Correct Option questions. 30 each from Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Marking Scheme is +4,-1. And full marks in 360 while Jee Mains paper 2 is only for those interested in Architecture and is not for B.Tech admission, but B.Arch admissions.

Clearing the cutoff in Mains paper 1, will make you eligible for JEE Advanced exam. 

Jee Advanced has 2 papers of 3 hours each.The full marks, marking scheme, question pattern everything varies every year.

  • Number of Attempts: Only 2 times in 2 consecutive years Appearance in Class 12 (or equivalent): Candidates appearing for 10 2 or equivalent in 2018 are also eligible.
  • Earlier Admission at IITs: Students who rejected the seat of IIT earlier are not eligible to apply. Those who joined preparatory courses in any of the IITs in the previous academic sessions can also apply. And those who have paid the seat acceptance fee but still not accepted the seat are eligible.
  • Performance in Class 12 (or equivalent): Minimum 75% marks in 10 2 or equivalent or they must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of qualified candidates in their particular 10 2 or equivalent examination.
  • Candidates who appeared in 10 2 examination in 2017 but reappeared in 2018, the best performance from the two will be considered.

Hello Aditya, JEE-Main syllabus is depend on NCERT books. If there is any change made to the NCERT books then JEE-Main syllabus changes otherwise Syllabus for JEE-main remain same for every year.
i haerd that i required to give a very less amount of money while studying in iit ...but here i see that i have to give some lacs....if i take admission by passing wuth a good rank in jee advance...then also i have to pay for it??????to studying in ii kanpur???
Hello Kaustuv, No matter what is your rank you have to pay the decided fee.You can apply for scholarship, for scholarship you have to contact the staff of college in which you want to take admission.
