JIPMER 2023 Counselling, Merit-List, Cut Off and Seat Allotment

UPSEE Counselling and Seat allocation for Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry will begin in the month of June 2023(tentatively). JIPMER 2023 counselling will be live telecasted using NKN Connectivity from Regional Resource Centre (RRC) JIPMER to all Medical Colleges of South India.

  • The counselling will be conducted to allocate admission to over 2,055 candidates for rendering admission to all Medical Colleges across South India. The Counselling will be carried out through online mode, wherein the candidates are required to be present in the given venue along with documents.
  • Counselling Venue is JIPMER Academic Centre, JIPMER Campus, Dhanvantri Nagar, Puducherry – 06
  • The counselling will be carried out to render 150 seats available at JIPMER Puducherry and for 50 seats at Karaikal campus.
  • The number of candidates participating in each of the counselling rounds will be eight times the number of seats available.
  • The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research will  release the Merit List for the MBBS entrance exam in June 2023.

JIPMER 2023 Counselling Process

The JIPMER 2023 counselling is conducted for allotting seats to all the Medical Colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal. The step by step procedure for JIPMER Counselling is mentioned below:

Release of Official Notice

An official notice will be released by JIPMER Puducherry simultaneously along with the JIPMER result. The notice must be treated as an invitation for all the candidates who have qualified the exam for JIPMER Counselling 2023. This will include important details such as venue, date and time as well as the documents required during the process. Candidates can avail for the notice by logging into the official website.

Step 1 – Registration

The JIPMER counselling registration will be carried out in the offline mode. The registration for the process will be done at the counselling venue. Candidates must report to the counter and present the notice/ call letter which they have downloaded from the official website. This will be followed by submitting personal details and other important information as mentioned in the form.

Step 2 – Biometric Fingerprint Verification

Once the students have successfully registered themselves, they will be taken for biometric fingerprint verification. Candidates will be required to verify their photograph and fingerprint before appearing for the counselling. This is done to ensure there is no duplication and the candidate appearing for counselling is the same as one who appeared for the exam.

Step 3 – Document Verification

  • JIPMER document verification will be conducted for all the aspirants who are allotted seats
  • Verification will be conducted after every round. In case of violation of any norms, the candidature will stand canceled.
  • Candidates must produce the necessary documents at the time of verification.

They must carry both original as well as photocopies of the following documents, to the reporting center at the time of counselling.

  • Rank Letter
  • Original copy of Hall Ticket/ Admit Card carrying the signature and seal of the Invigilator/center representative
  • Class 10th Passing Certificate or Birth Certificate (as proof for Date of Birth)
  • Class 12th or equivalent exam Mark Sheet and passing Certificate
  • Migration Certificate
  • Medical Certificate in case of OPH Certificate
  • Residence Certificate issued by officially Revenue Authority, not below the rank of Tahsildar
  • Caste Certificate issued by Revenue Officer who is not below the rank of Tahsildar
  • Transfer Certificate issued by the Head of last attended institute/ university
  • Employer Certificate (applicable for residents of Puducherry)
  • Six recently clicked Passport size colored photographs

Payment of Fees

  • During allocation of seats, candidates will be required to make the payment of fee on the day of counselling in the form of a demand draft.
  • The admission letter will be issued only post the payment of fees.
  • The academic fee payable by candidates are as follows:

Open Round Counselling

JIPMER Counselling 2023 Open Round

The first three rounds of counselling for JIPMER 2023 will follow the same process. Students who were invited for the first round of counselling but did not attend will not be eligible for further counselling rounds. However, they will be eligible for the Open Round.

JIPMER Counselling Open Round

  • It is conducted for filling up vacant seats after the third round
  • Students who have secured percentile equal to or greater than JIPMER cut off are eligible for attending the process.

Ques: How is the JIPMER Seat Allocation process carried out?

Ans: Allocation of seats will be carried out on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the exam, merit obtained, and availability of seats. This will be carried out through the counselling process.

Ques: What are the Reservation Criteria for admission?

Ans: The total number of seats available for admission is 150 for Puducherry Campus and Karaikal Campus is 50. Candidates who seek admission under reservation category must mandatorily present their Caste certificate as a document of proof. They must fulfill either of the criteria as set by the Puducherry government:

  • Candidate must hold a Permanent Integrated Certificate issued either by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management or by the administrative office.
  • They must have qualified their Class X from the union territory who have completed five continuous years of education in the union territory
  • Must be resident of Puducherry for five years
  • Must have completed class 12th from an institution located in the union territory or studied for two successive years
  • Candidate’s either parent should be an employee of Puducherry Government or Central Government for at least three consecutive years.
  • Candidates whose either parent was/is employed as Defense Personnel/ Central Paramilitary Force killed or disabled in action or has declared Puducherry as their legal hometown are eligible for reservation.

Ques. I have already paid the seat acceptance fee at the time of counselling. However, now I do not want to take admission in the college. How can I claim my refund?

Ans: No, fees once paid cannot be reclaimed later on. The academic fee for counselling is non-refundable.

Ques. I have been offered a seat in the first round of allotment but I do not wish to accept the seat at this moment. Can I accept that same seat later?

Ans: No, if you fail to report for the counselling in person for the counselling process, you will lose the seat and will not be allowed to participate in the remaining counselling process. However, you will be eligible for participating in an open round for pending seats.

Ques. When and where can I register for JIPMER 2023 counselling?

Ans: The JIPMER 2023 counselling is conducted in the offline mode. Candidates will be required to register for the counselling process at the venue itself on the day of counselling.

Ques: I have lost my Notice Letter. Can I still be able to participate in the counselling?

Ans: The notice letter/ Call Letter is an essential document for JIPMER 2023 Counselling. It is necessary to be carried along on the day of counselling, failing which the candidate won't be deemed eligible to participate in the process. You can, however, download the invitation letter by logging into the official website.

Ques: Will the JIPMER Invitation letter be sent by Post?

Ans: No the JIPMER Invitation Letter won't be sent by Post. The candidate will be required to visit the official website and download the same.

Ques. If my Fingerprint did not match at the time of Biometric Verification but my Photo Verification was successful will I still be allowed to participate in the counselling process?

Ans: Your biometric fingerprint verification is conducted to determine your identity and verify your eligibility. If your biometric verification did not match but your photo verification matched, still you won’t be allowed to participate in the counselling. It is mandatory for both the candidate to be successful in both the verification.

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research conducts JIPMER MBBS. NEET is a common test for all medical aspirants trying to secure admission to govt medical colleges. Earlier AIIMS was conducted for AIIMS MBBS. But it has been scrapped and AIIMS takes admission based on NEET scores.  The examination pattern of JIPMER is different than NEET.
