KCET 2023 Reservation will allow candidates to understand seats reserved by KEA for the candidates falling in the various categories as per KCET 2023 reservation criteria.   • Candidates belonging to the reserved categories or to some special reserved category can avail of the benefits of reservation only if they fulfill the required eligibility criteria of reservation. Check KCET 2023  Eligibility
  • Categories such as rural candidates, J&K migrants, defense personnel, etc are also included under KCET reservation criteria 2023.
  • Such candidates must produce the ‘Caste Certificate/ Caste Income Certificate issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahsildar during document verification.

  • The part of the State called the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region comprising the districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary shall be regarded as the local area.
  • 70% of the available seats in every course of study in any regional University or educational institution located in the places referred above in the local area shall be reserved in favor of the local persons, in respect of such University or educational institution.
  • 8% of the available seats in every course of study provided in a statewide University or a statewide educational institution be allocated among the local candidates of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region.
KCET Marks Based Reservation

KCET Reservation Based on Marks

Before applying for KCET 2023, candidates are required to check KCET eligibility criteria. Eligibility criteria include factors one of which is the score in the qualifying exam. Karnataka Examination Authority gives relaxation in the aggregate marks to the reserved category candidates. Check the relaxation criteria given below:

  • All the aspirants must score 50% aggregate marks in the 10+2 level exam.
  • SC/ST/OBC candidates have a relaxation of 10% marks. Thus, candidates need to score 40% marks at the 10+2 level exam.

KCET 2023 Reservation for Special Categories 

There is a reservation for certain special categories in KCET Exam such as NCC, Sports, Scouts and Guides, Defence, Ex-defence, Physically Handicapped, Anglo-Indian, Central Armed Police Force, and Ex-Central Armed Police Force.

Reservation Under N.C.C Quota

Reservation conditions for N.C.C Special Category are as follows:

(I)Candidates who have participated in Republic Day Camp conducted by the Director-General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the five year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards

(II)Candidates who have participated in the following camps conducted by the Director-General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards namely;

  1. All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys) - TSC (B)
  2. All India Thal Sainik Camp (Girls) - TSC (G)
  3. All India Nau Sainik Camp – NSC
  4. All India Vayu Sainik Camp – VSC
  5. Cadets who have been finally selected as a part of DG NCC team to participate in All India Mavalankar Shooting Championship at National Level and Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organised by DG, NCC.

(III)Candidates who have participated in the following camps conducted by the Director-General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards namely

  1. All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys) - TSC (B)
  2. All India Thal Sainik Camp (Girls) - TSC (G)
  3. All India Nau Sainik Camp - NSC
  4. All India Vayu Sainik Camp – VSC
  5. Cadets who have participated in All India Mavalankar Shooting Championship as a part of KAR and GOA Director Team and in complete - Mountaineering Expeditions (over 5900 Mtrs), Sailing Expeditions using wind power only (401 KMs), MotorCycle Expeditions (more than 3500 KMs) and Cycling Expeditions (more than 1500 KMs), organised by DG, NCC / NCC Director of Karnataka & Goa.

(IV)Candidates who have participated in the following camps/courses conducted by the Director-General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards namely:

  1. NIC
  2. Trekking
  3. Mountaineering
  4. BLC
  5. ALC
  6. RCTC
  7. Army, Navy, Air Force & Hospital Attachments.

(V)Candidates who possess “B” certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th Standards.

Provided that for selection of a reserved seat under NCC category, the preferential criteria are as follows:

  1. Preference 1: Candidates possessing ‘B’ Certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in the Republic Day camp.
  2. Preference 2: Candidates possessing B’ certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub-clause (ii) above.
  3. Preference 3: ‘B’ certificate holders who have participated in the Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organised by DG, NCC.
  4. Preference 4:‘B’ certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the Republic Day camp.
  5. Preference 5:‘B’ Certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub-clause (iii) above.
  6. Preference 6: ‘B’ Certificate holders who have participated in the mountaineering /sailing/motorcycle/ cycling expeditions organized by DG NCC / NCC Directorate of KAR and GOA.
  7. Preference 7: ‘B’ Certificate holders who have participated in the camps mentioned at sub-clause (iv) para above.
  8. Preference 8: Candidates possessing ONLY ‘B’ Certificate (NCC candidates possessing only ’B’ certificate).

Important Note for Selection Criteria 

Provided that while considering the candidates mentioned in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) above, gold medal winners will be preferred to silver medalists who in turn will be preferred to bronze medalists under the respective sub-clauses.

Provided further that the Director of NCC or his authorized nominee shall be present in the KEA on the appointed days along with the list of eligible NCC candidates in the order of preference i.e. 1 to 7 to assist in the selection of candidates under the NCC special category.

Reservation for Sports Quota 

Reservation conditions for Sports Special Category are as follows – 

  1. Candidates who have represented the country and won medals/cups in SUPER-A Games during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards
  2. Candidates who have won medals/cups in ‘B-Games’ by representing Karnataka State and participated in the SUPER-A Games or A-Games specified in Table 1 given below during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards
  3. Candidates who have represented Karnataka State in ‘B-Games’ and won medals/cups during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards

Reservation for Scouts and Guides

Reservation conditions for Scouts and Guides Special Category are as follows:

  1. Candidates who, as “Scouts /Guides”, have received the “President’s Award” during a five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards.
  2. The candidate should compulsorily produce the “President’s Award” certificate when they come for verification of documents with other certificates.

Important Note for Selection Criteria

Candidates belonging to Scouts & Guides will be considered for allotment of seats as per their merit order ONLY in the general Admission Round of allotment of seats along with the other General Merit and Reserved Category candidates.

OBC/SC/ST under Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B

  • These candidates will have to produce their caste certificate or income certificate issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahsildar.
  • The candidates will also need to hold Form ‘D’ in the case of SC and ST.
  • Form ‘E’ is required in the case of Category-I.
  • Form ‘F’ is required in the case of OBC like 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B.

Reservation Under Defence Quota 

Reservation conditions for Defence Special Category are as follows:

  • Son or daughter of Defence Personnel falling under Eligibility Clauses (e), (f) and (g) should obtain the Defence certificates in the prescribed format failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later allotment of seats under Defence.
  1. Candidates claiming eligibility under Eligibility Clause (e) should produce the certificate of employment issued by the Controlling Office in the prescribed format where the parent is working, Indicating the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka.
  2. Candidates claiming eligibility under Eligibility Clause (f) should produce the certificate from the Record Office of the Defence Unit in the prescribed format indicating that the parent had declared a place in Karnataka as his hometown at the time of joining the service.
  3. Candidates claiming eligibility under Eligibility Clause (g) should produce the certificate from the Controlling Office in the prescribed format indicating the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka, the present place of posting and also the fact that his family is permitted to stay in Karnataka.
  • Defence personnel for the purpose of these clauses mean a person in Defence Service including Personnel belonging to Civil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class ‘III’ or Class ‘IV’ Government servants and ‘Border Roads Organisation Personnel’.

Important Note for Selection Criteria

Provided that 10% of the seats shall be reserved horizontally for allotment to the children of defence personnel of Karnataka Origin from among the total seats reserved for defense personals.

Candidates belonging to Defence will be considered for allotment of seats as per their merit order only in the general Admission Round of allotment of seats along with the other General Merit and Reserved Category candidates.

Reservation Through Ex-defence

Reservation conditions for Ex-Defence Special Category are as follows:

  1. Son or daughter of Ex-Servicemen falling under Eligibility Clause (h) should obtain a certificate showing the home address of the parent issued by the Joint Director / Deputy Director of the concerned district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore, failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later allotment of seats under Ex-Defence.
  2. Ex-Servicemen for the purpose of this clause include personnel belonging to the Civil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class III or Class IV Government Servants, who became permanently disabled or were killed during hostilities.

Important Note for Selection Criteria

Candidates belonging to Ex-Defence will be considered for allotment of seats as per their merit order only in the general Admission Round of allotment of seats along with the other General Merit and Reserved Category candidates.

Reservation for the Physically Handicapped 

Reservation conditions for Physically Handicapped Special Category are as follows:

  1. The candidates claiming reservation under this category will be required to appear for Medical examination before a committee comprising the Executive Director, KEA as Chairman and three specialists from the Department of Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and ENT, nominated by the Government.
  2. Candidates with a physical disability ranging above 40% should produce a Medical certificate issued by competent Doctor of any Government Hospital located in the State of Karnataka in the field of concerned disability, only on the day of Medical examination.
  3. Candidates suffering from hearing disability should compulsorily obtain and produce a BSER (Brain Stem Evoked Response) Audiometry report from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore / NIMHANS, Bangalore / Manipal Hospital / Government Speech and Hearing Institute, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore.
  4. The Medical Board will examine the candidate and certificate and certify regarding the percentage of disability and the decision of the Medical Board is final.
  5. For the purpose of this provision, persons with disability shall have the same meaning assigned to it, in the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Participation) Act 1995 (Central Act 1 / 1995).

Important Note for Selection Criteria

The candidates with a disability less than 40% will not be eligible for claiming a seat under Physically Disabled category.

The Physically Disabled candidates, who fail to appear before the Committee for Medical examination, will not be eligible to be considered for allotment of the seat under Physically Disabled category.

Reservation for Anglo-Indians

Reservation conditions for Anglo-Indian Special Category are as follows:

  1. Candidates from Anglo-Indian Community certificate issued by the Registered Association of the Anglo Indian Community in the State of Karnataka countersigned by the Anglo-Indian MLA Nominated by the Government, failing which they will not be allowed for the later allotment of seats under the Anglo-Indian category.

Reservation Under Central Armed Police Force

Reservation for Kannada Medium Students

  • To become eligible for reservation in this category candidates must have studied in Kannada Medium from Class 1 to 10.

Reservation Through the Rural Category

  • The eligibility criteria for this reservation is that candidates should have completed 10 years of basic education in rural areas or in small urban areas or either in the transitional areas as mentioned Municipal Corporation of Karnataka under Karnataka Municipalities Act. 1964 and Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976.

Supernumerary Quota 

  • All candidates are eligible for admissions under the Supernumerary quota.
  • To avail this facility you need to provide an income certificate issued by concerned Tahasildar.
  • General category candidates can also apply under this reservation criteria. 

Reservation for Jammu and Kashmiri Migrants 

  • Only the candidates who are sons or daughters of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants or are such migrants themselves can claim seats under Jammu and Kashmiri Migrants' quota.

Hyderabad Karnataka Quota 

  • Candidates from Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary Fare can claim a seat under this category.

Ques: Do I need to have a category certificate to get admission in KCET 2023?

Ans: Yes. If you belong to a specific category and have applied under that category for the admission and counselling process then it is mandatory to produce that category certificate for admission in KCET 2023. The documents that you will produce must have your name on it. Also, the certificate that you will be producing should be issued by the respective state/region authorities. 

Ques: When will the online document verification start for KCET 2023?
