MUCLET 2019

Mumbai University conducts MUCLET (Mumbai University Common Law Entrance Test) for admission to 5 years integrated course of B.B.A L.L.B (Honours) course. MUCLET exam serves as the gateway for the ten-semester course in University National Law School, located at Fort Campus and School of Law situated at Thane sub campus of Mumbai University.

Any candidate who seeks admission through MUCLET must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam. Aspirants fulfilling the eligibility criteria can download MUCLET 2017 form online from the official website of Mumbai University. The form has to be filled and submitted offline along with the necessary documents. Successful applicants will be able to download the MUCLET admit card 2017 online from the official website.

MUCLET 2017 is held in 2 rounds. MUCLET written test is the first round which is also the screening process for the interview round. Combined score of the two rounds is used to prepare the merit list, thereby enabling candidates to secure admission in either of the two law colleges of Mumbai University.

MUCLET 2017 Exam Dates

MUCLET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

For five year, integrated B.B.A LL.B course offered by Mumbai University, the eligibility criteria is:

  • The applicant should be citizen of India.
  • Candidates must have passed SSC and HSC Examination from a recognized institution or equivalent examination from a recognized Board/university of India or outside or from Secondary Board or equivalent, constituted or recognized by the Union or by a State Government, with at least 45% marks in aggregate (40% marks for SC/ST category). It should be noted that 44.5% and above marks (39.5% and above in case of SC/ST category candidates) obtained will be treated as 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST category).
  • The age of candidate belonging to general or OBC category should not exceed above 20 years as on 1 July, 2017. The age of candidate belonging to ST or SC category should not exceed above 22 years as on 1 July, 2017.

MUCLET 2017 Application Form

The application form for MUCLET 2017 will be made available on the official website of Mumbai University. Download MUCLET 2017 Application form and print it on legal size paper. Applicants have to fill the form in the prescribed format and submit it along with required documents.

MUCLET 2017 Application fee have to be paid in form of Demand Draft. The entrance exam fees structure for MUCLET is differs for general category and reserved category students.

  • For General / Open Category: INR 2000/-
  • For Reserved Category: INR 1000/-

The Demand Draft of applicable amount must be issued by a nationalized bank and it must be drawn in favor of “Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai,” payable at Mumbai. Candidates who wish to avail the relaxation provided to reserved category must do so by furnishing necessary documents and attaching it with the application form.

List of documents to be enclosed while applying for MUCLET 2017 is:

  • Application form filled in the prescribed format along with 2 passport size recent photograph
  • Demand Draft of applicable amount
  • Attested Copies of Mark sheet of SSC (10th or equivalent) & HSC [(10+2) or equivalent]
  • Attested Copy of Domicile Certificate (applicable for the candidates seeking admission under 85% quota available for Maharashtra domiciled students)
  • Attested Copy of Caste Certificate and Validity Certificate issued by the competent authority (applicable for the candidates belonging to the reserved category)
  • Attested Copy of Non Creamy Layer Certificate issued by the Competent Authority (applicable for the candidates belonging to OBC/NT Category).

MUCLET 2017 Admit Card

MUCLET Admit card 2017 will be issued for only those candidates whose application form has been accepted. Admit card will be available online on the official website of MUCLET. Candidate must download and take a print out of the same. Admit card of a candidate will contain information of time, date and venue of the exam. Candidates must ensure that their own details such as name is correct in the admit card. Apart from details, admit card also contains rule and instructions to be followed during the exam.

On the day of examination, candidate must carry the admit card with passport size photograph attached, to the center of examination. Candidates who are not able to produce admit card on the day of examination will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

MUCLET 2017 Exam Pattern

Written exam is conducted offline at the participating law schools of the University. The examination is conducted in only English language. Question paper of the written test comprises on Multiple Choice Objective Type questions. There is no negative marking in the examination. Approximate number of questions in MUCLET 2017 will be 100. The question paper will have to be solved in the allotted time of 2 hours. The University does not take responsibility for the absentee candidates. There will be no consideration made for re-examination or refund of entrance exam fee. The candidates appearing for the examination are tested in the following areas.

MUCLET 2017 Syllabus

English Grammar & Vocabulary test is conducted to see the grasp of candidate over the English language. The section contains question on grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms/antonyms among other things. The section also has a comprehension section with a passage given and questions being asked based on the passage.

General Knowledge and Current affairs section tests the general awareness and cognizance of a candidate. The popular topics are related to politics, legal, constitutional business & industry knowledge. Legal Aptitude contains question on basic legal issues and topics. The questions comprise of syllabus that a candidate might have studied in the subject of civics in the earlier classes.

Reasoning test helps to know quickness and accuracy of candidate to solve numerical calculation and quantitative aptitude. Topics such as ratio & proportion and percentages are commonly asked. This test also helps to measure candidate’s power of quantitative reasoning, interpretation of tables, common graphs and charts.

MUCLET 2017 Result

The result of MUCLET is declared on the official website of Mumbai University. Candidates are given preference according to the merit list. In case a candidate misses his/her opportunity and is absent to undertake the admission process, next candidate as per the merit list will be extended the opportunity.

During admission procedure, a candidate should take all the necessary documents which includes, result card, proof of eligibility (SSC & HSC or equivalent certificate) among other things. Candidates belonging to the reserved category should carry the original document as the proof of the same in hard copy. Candidates with the domicile of state of Maharashtra must also carry the original document as the proof of the same.


MUCLET 2017 Seat Intake

A total of 120 seats are available for admission through MUCLET 2017. The breakdown of seats between 2 colleges is equal.

  • University National Law School situated at Fort Campus: 60 seats
  • School of Law situated at Thane Sub Campus: 60 seats

Candidates are required to give preference regarding their admission to institution in the application form. This preference will be final and will not be changed at the later stage or during process of admission. 85% of the available 120 seats are reserved for qualified candidates who hail from Maharashtra. In such a case, candidate has to furnish a domicile certificate of the state of Maharashtra.


MUCLET 2017 Interview

The final selection of students for the available 120 seats is made after two processes. The selection is done only on the basis of merit, performance in the written test and in the interview round. Interview process is carried out for the candidates who have successfully cleared the written test and whose names appear in merit list based on MUCLET scores before the admission process. The candidates are verified and validated in the formal interview.

In case it is found at any stage that a candidate has provided wrong information in person or in the application form, his/her admission procedure shall be terminated. Based on interview round and performance in the test a final merit list is prepared.
