SAAT 2023 Exam Pattern, Syllabus and Marking Scheme

SAAT 2023 Exam Pattern is a national level entrance exam which is conducted in almost 62 exam centres across 40 cities of India by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). 

  • The question paper comprises 120 objective type questions which students need to attempt in 3 hours.
  • Exam Pattern may vary from course to course as opted by students.

SAAT 2023 Exam Pattern in Details

SAAT 2023 is conducted in offline and online mode with pen and paper handy by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University. 120 questions need to be answered in 3 hours. On marking every accurate answer, candidates will be awarded 4 marks whereas for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted which clearly means that the total marks of the question paper are 480.

Exam pattern and subjects will vary as per the courses opted by students either UG courses or PG courses. All the tables below depict the exam pattern of various courses:

Exam pattern and syllabus of SAAT is different for different courses. The syllabus for B. Tech/DDE/B. Pharm/B.Sc. Ag. /B.Sc. Nursing consists of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology (Botany or Zoology) subjects.

The corresponding question paper basically comprises questions from 10+2 standard. For engineering courses, the questions will prompt from Basic Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Engineering Mechanics.


SAAT 2023 Marking Scheme

SAAT 2023 question paper comprises of 4-5 section depending on the course that candidate has selected. The total marks of the question paper will be 480. All the questions carry 4 marks each and there will be negative marking of 1 mark on every incorrect answer.

SAAT 2023 Syllabus

Syllabus of SAAT 2023 differs from course to course. Altogether, there will be either 4 or 5 sections. One needs to understand the syllabus precisely to score good marks and clear the entrance examination. All the syllabus for different courses proposed by the authorities pointwise is elaborated below:

Syllabus for MBA/MHA/MTTM/MHM/M.Sc.

  • Verbal Reasoning- One of the most essential topic to be covered by students for SAAT 2023 entrance test is verbal reasoning which includes understanding and reasoning by using concepts framed in words. It evaluates the ability to think constructively.
  • Analytical Reasoning-- Analytical reasoning includes the logic that infers through the virtue of the statement's own content. Candidates need to be thorough with these to pass.
  • General Knowledge- Candidate’s knowledge regarding the awareness of the world would be asked in this section.
  • Comprehension- It includes the action and capability of understanding something and hence marking the accurate answer on its basis.
  • Computer Fundamentals- Candidate’s basic computer fundamentals studied must be clear in order to pass this section of SAAT 2023 test.

Syllabus For BHMCT

  • Reasoning—The authorities want students to be flexible with the action of thinking in a logical and sensible manner. Those who is successful with the same clears this section.
  • Service Aptitude—It prompts questions based on aptitude which is the developed knowledge, understanding and acquired skills in a candidate.
  • General English – In this section, students will be tested on general English language including the grammatical skills.
  • General Knowledge- Candidates must have a general awareness and to clear this section. There is no exact syllabus. However, general knowledge and current affairs from all over the world shall be prompted.
  • General Science- Basic science, that candidates must have academically covered till then, will be asked in the exam which will include physics, chemistry and Biology.
  • Numerical Aptitude—This section comprises of mathematical calculations and numerical logics and related aptitude. Students must practice all the topics of mathematics which they have studied till yet academically.

B.A.LL. B (Hons.)/BBA.LL.B. (Hons.)/BBA

  • English including Comprehension— It tests how accurate a candidate is with language English. It will contain reading comprehensions and relatable questions.
  • General Knowledge/Current Affairs—There is no such appropriate syllabus for this section. It will ask questions from general knowledge, awareness and current affairs from around the world.
  • Elementary/Numerical Aptitude—Students need to practice basic mathematics logics and numeric to get through this very section.
  • Legal Aptitude/Legal Awareness— Candidates must have sound legal knowledge and awareness in the country to pass this section.
  • Logical Reasoning—Candidates need to study logical reasoning which is basically a process of using a rational as well as a systematic series of steps based on mathematical logics and given statements to conclude the answer.

B. Tech/DDE/B. Pharm/B.Sc. Ag. /B.Sc.

The syllabus for students who intends to apply for the above-mentioned discipline is Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology (Botany or Zoology). SAAT 2023 Important Instructions

  • Candidates must be present at the allotted examination centre half an hour prior to the commencement of SAAT 2023 examination
  • Students will neither be permitted in the exam centre nor give the examination without the issued SAAT 2023 Admit Card and a valid government id proof (PAN card, Voter id, Aadhar card, driving license).
  • Some of the electronic gadgets like mobile phones, calculators, etc. are not allowed inside the test centre.
  • Candidates must not open the distributed exam booklet unless instructed as they will be given an extra time of 10 minutes to read the same to avoid any sort of confusion.
  • Candidates must keep a note that they must not carry any personal baggage or things inside the centre as they will not be responsible in case of stealing or losing the article.
  • Details filled by the candidate must be accurate to the best of their knowledge or else the possible consequence would be that the result will not be evaluated by the concerned authorities.
  • Answers must be darkened appropriately in the OMR sheet.
  • Candidate is not permitted to leave the exam centre without the permission of invigilator and before the exam time as it may lead to the cancellation of the candidature.
  • Candidate found guilty of any unfair means will be disqualified of his/her candidature.
