TANATA 2022 Preparation Tips, Important Topics, Exam Pattern, and Syllabus

TANATA 2022 aspirants would want to know the tips to pass the examination with successful marks. Giving an entrance exam, particularly when it comes to B.Arch, is often stressful, as these exams have technical terms, long definitions, tricky numerical and theoretical terms. Well, Collegedunia looked forward to help those candidates with tips and tricks on how to deal with time management and how to keep you cool.

TANATA will be an offline exam of 3 hours and the questions are asked only in English mode. This entrance exam will be very tricky, lengthy, aptitude based and very competitive in nature. Yearly, lakhs of students appear for the exam, however, only a few will be selected based on their merit and talent. The hard work, perseverance, and commitment put in by the candidates is worth the effort as this entrance exam offers gateway to most of the top Architecture colleges within Tamil Nadu. TANATA is one score that most of the college recruiters look for in the student’s profile while giving them admission. Candidates can read the below article to know the following preparation tips in order to get a good rank in the exam.

Prepare Yourself Mentally

Prepare Yourself Mentally

Before giving TANATA exam or as a matter of fact any Entrance test, it is always advised that one needed to be prepared mentally. The candidates will be required to have the “Can do it” attitude rather than “I cannot do this” or “I don’t think I am capable enough attitude”. How would one know whether they are talented or capable enough if they don’t try it out? It is going to be tough, exhausting, and challenging. However, this journey could be made easier when a candidate understands why they have applied for the test in the first place. So before you start gathering your materials to study, taking a piece of paper and listing out the reasons why you have started it in the first place is necessary. The ‘why’ kept the candidates focused throughout their preparation period.

TANATA Exam Pattern

TANATA 2022 Exam Pattern

The next important thing to do after preparing yourself mentally is to look up TANATA exam pattern. One could easily find the exam pattern when you either google or look up the information on the Anna University website. However, to make student lives easier, we have explained it here itself. The entrance exam will be divided into two parts ie., Part A and Part B. Part A contained 20 Mathematics related questions of 2 marks each and 40 General Aptitude related questions of 2 marks each. Thus out of 120 marks, a candidate needed to score 30 marks in Part A to qualify. Part B contained Drawing test with 2 questions of 40 marks each. Thus out of 80 marks, a candidate needed to score 20 marks in Part B to qualify. Also, unlike other entrance exams, the candidates will be required to fill the OMR answer sheets with only a pencil and not pen. There will be no negative marking for the wrong answer marked.

Time Table: Now that you know the exam pattern and have the syllabus copy with subtopics listed out for you in the above table. It’s time for you to prepare a time table accordingly. The timetable could be based on daily, weekly, and monthly targets that you set for yourself. Taking enough breaks in between the study hours are advised. You could allocate a particular time for the study based on your concentration levels. Let’s say, you are a morning person, then studying in the early morning would be more productive for you. If you are a night person, then you should have allocated your study timing in the night hours. Try your best to stick to the timetable. Also, forgive yourself if you don’t meet targets on any particular day. After all, we are all humans and we cannot be at the top of the game every single time. It gets tiring and you definitely deserve a break.

Make Handwritten Notes: Since the nature of the paper is mostly technical, it is important for the candidates to maintain a separate note to write down the formulas that one come across while studying or draw concepts in the form of diagrams for easy understanding. The main advantage of maintaining handwritten notes is to help the student revise all the topics that they have studied in a very short period of time. This could be particularly useful a week before the exam. Trust us, you don’t want to be juggling through all the textbooks again. Having a simple note eased the preparation. One important caution for students is not to strive for the ‘perfect notes’. The notion of the perfect notes would only waste a candidate’s time. So, it is advised to keep the notes simple.

Self or Group Study: This is one of the questions that a student pondered over before starting their preparation. If you are a self-motivated person, then the person should have studied by herself/himself. However, if you could get the motivation to study only in the group and need help in understanding the concepts from your friends, then the candidate must have chosen group studies. Although group study has its benefits, often it is misused as students tend to gossip or binge watch Netflix or prime or order delicious food instead of serious study. Thus, it is very important to choose a set of people to study with. Before making a study group, make sure that each and everyone in the group has the same objectives as you ie., scoring good marks in TANATA and can equally contribute and are capable of adding value to the study group.

Solve Previous Year Papers and Mock tests: Solving previous year papers could have helped an individual gauging the pattern of the questions asked in the exam. Most of the time, the questions are repeated. Thus, solving previous year papers helped the candidate to know the important topics that the candidate will be required to practice. In digital times, most of the coaching institutes provide mock tests based on the previous year’s pattern to help the student score better. So, many of the aspirants might have looked for the institutes that provided mock tests. Only studying doesn’t make sense if you are not testing the knowledge. Once you give the mocks, it would have helped you to identify your weak areas. It definitely gave an edge over other students who just studied but did not practice enough.

Learn to use your calculator

As we all know that all the engineering entrance exams are lengthy and big calculations and there are chances that one might have to use an online calculator. So, if you do not know to use it, it would create a panic. Thus a candidate must have practiced his/her questions with the help of a calculator to avoid a stressful situation.

Revise: Various research studies have shown that instead of re-reading the study material more times in a single day, the best study technique to remember everything that you read and learn is to revise and recall it more often. Since the exam paper is highly technical in nature, make sure that you don’t just glance through the material, and instead put it into practice. Though glancing helps us think that we understand the concepts in mind, when you are in the examination hall, only practiced problems will be etched in your mind for a long time. Also, here your handwritten notes come in handy. Make sure that you only revise ‘already studied material’ one week before the exam and resist the temptations to start any new topic, as it will only stress you out more.

Stay Calm: You applied for the exam, went through the exam pattern, understood the syllabus, became well versed in the concepts, made handwritten notes, revised and practiced enough times, solved previous year papers, and mocks. Your work is done here. The only thing that you required to do now is to stay calm. Maybe it’s the most crucial thing that a candidate should do. A calm mind could have helped a candidate think clearly in the exam hall and perform well in the exam. Listen to affirmations or maybe doing meditation made him/her calm.

D-Day: First of all, congratulations for making this far. Here are the few tips that you are required to know to ace the exam with perfect scores. On the day before the exam, stop studying, take a break, and relaxing is advised. Studying any old or new topics is advised to be avoided.
