VITEEE Eligibility Criteria 2023: Age, Qualification, Qualifying Marks, & Reservation

VITEEE Eligibility Criteria 2023 is defined by VIT. Only Candidates who fulfill all the eligibility criteria will be eligible to fill VITEEE Application form and participate in the admission process.

  • As per the minimum VITEEE Eligibility criteria, candidates should have secured at least an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the +2/Intermediate examination.
  • Candidates from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) will also be eligible to appear for VITEEE 2023 exam. Check VITEEE 2023 Exam Dates
  • Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are eligible for admission to B.Tech. Bioengineering and B.Tech. Biotechnology programs. They are also eligible for ECE with a specialization in Biomedical Engineering, B.Tech. Computer Science and Engg (Spec. in Bioinformatics) but after joining, registering for Mathematics as a bridge course is mandatory.
  • Candidates must note that VIT has made VITEEE Scores compulsory for admission into Engineering (B.Tech) courses.

Nationality

Candidate applying for VITEEE 2023 could be a: 

  • Resident of India
  • Non-Resident Indian National (NRI)
  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO)
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)

Note: PIO/OCI candidates should have studied in schools located in India in the preceding 2 years.

Age Limit

  • Candidates should be born on or after July 1, 1999. 
  • The Date of Birth recorded in High School/SSC/Class 10 Certificate will be considered final.
  • They should produce this certificate in original as proof of their age at the time of counseling, failing which, they will be disqualified.
  • They must have completed the age of 17 years as of July 1, 2023.

Qualifying Examination

VITEEE 2023 aspirants should have either completed or will appear in 2023 in the following eligible qualifying examinations:

  • Class 10+2 conducted by the State Board/CBSE/ICSE.
  • Intermediate or 2-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Organisation, Geneva.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

Note: As per VIT norms, NIOS candidates are also eligible to apply. They should submit the Migration-Cum-Transfer Certificate at the time of admission or VITEEE Counselling.

Minimum Marks/Percentage

  • Aspiring candidates must have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology in the qualifying examination. 
  • Reserved category (SC/ST) candidates are given a concession of 10% marks that is they can apply for VITEEE 2023 registration with 50% marks also.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST

  • Candidates have to provide the SC/ST certificates. 
  • Candidates have to fill Certificate to Prove Nativity for those who hail from Jammu and Kashmir and the North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. 
  • If candidates fail to provide the community or nativity certificate during the time of admission then the decision taken by the institute related to his/her admission would be considered final.

Subject Criteria Eligibility

  • Candidates with Physics, Chemistry, Maths in the qualifying exam are eligible for all B.Tech Degree Programs.
  • Candidates with Physics, Chemistry, Biology in the qualifying exam are eligible for B.Tech Bio Stream Programs only like B.Tech. Bio-engineering, Biotechnology, CSE with specialization in Bioinformatics, ECE with specialization in Biomedical Engineering programs.

NOTE: According to the latest update, VIT will also be accepting JEE Main Scores and SAT scores for B.Tech admission. Students can submit valid JEE Main scores for admission.

NRI/Foreign Students

NRI candidates also need to fulfill the eligibility criteria to get admission to VIT.

VITEEE Additional Information

VITEEE 2023 Eligibility Criteria - Additional Information

  1. The documents required for filling up the VITEEE application form are as follows:
    • Soft Copy or scanned copy of recently taken passport size colored photograph.
    • The size of the photograph should be between 50 KB – 100 KB and dimensions- 3.5 cm * 4.5 cm.
    • Soft copy or scanned copy of the signature of the candidate with 20 KB – 50 KB with dimensions of 3.5 cm * 1.5 cm in JPG/JPEG format.
  2. It is important to fulfill the VITEEE Eligibility Criteria 2023 to be eligible for admission.
  3. In case of any discrepancy, while scrutinizing the documents, the candidature will be liable for cancellation.
  4. If the application form is rejected, the refund of the fee will be made as per the rules of VIT University. 

Note: It is mandatory that candidates and parents have to sign an undertaking at the time of admission, the format for which will be issued by the admissions office.

Ques. How many people took VITEEE in 2021? 

Ans. More than 2 Lakh students had appeared for VITEEE 2021. This year's exam is scheduled to be held in 120 test cities across India and 4 international cities, Dubai, Muscat, Qatar, and Kuwait. VITEEE is conducted in a computer-based mode in the English language only. The duration of the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes. One mark will be awarded for every correct answer. 

Ques. Is there any dress code for VITEEE 2023? 

Ans. No, there is no dress code to be followed while appearing for the exam. All the details related to the exam center, exam timings, and other rules and regulations will be mentioned in your admit card. VITEEE 2023 is an online entrance exam that has four sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. Candidates going for B. Tech Biotechnology have to opt for Biology instead of Mathematics. 

Ques. Can only Indian nationals apply for VITEEE 2023? 

Ans. Candidates who are residents of India will be able to apply for VITEEE 2023. Non-residents of India will be eligible for the examination and admission process. Foreign applicants will be able to apply through the application form for foreign nationals.

  • Candidates should have studied from an English medium school.
  • They should have completed 10+2 years with Physics, Chemistry, Maths/ Biology 
  • It is mandatory to secure a minimum score of 60% in all of the subjects 

Ques. What are the degree requirements for foreign applicants?

Ans. The candidate should have any pre-University examination or intermediate through a recognized board or University 

OR 

The candidate should have a high school certification from Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma from the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva 

OR 

The candidate should possess General Certificate Education (GCE) from Cambridge / London / Sri Lanka with an advanced “A” level 

OR 

All candidates who have studied full time, regular and formal education will be eligible for VITEEE 2021 

Ques. What are the eligibility requirements for applicants from the SC / ST Category for VITEEE 2023? 

Ans. For VITEEE 2023, Applicants hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and the North-Eastern conditions of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura need identification proofs to prove nationality. 

Candidates who are unable to provide the documents won’t be considered for admission to the University. Also, applicants have to provide given certificates in original form as proof of their age at the time of counselling.
