The University of Hong Kong - HKU, Hong Kong, hong-kong: 1 answered questions

Ques. In terms of everything, which one should I choose: McGill University or University of Hong Kong?

    ● Top Answer By Aman Kumar on 11 Jan 21

Ans. It really depends on your own requirements. Both are one of the top Global Universities as per majority of the ranking agencies so you can’t go wrong with them. Moreover, they're both consecutively ranked so reputation wise, both are brilliant. University of hong kong is ranked at #39 by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021, while McGill is at #40 position. Thus, both are good universities for international students. HKU gives you a chance to enter the whole Asian economy if you're not from here, while McGill is perfect for those considering working or settling in the Americas. HKU is also feasible for South Asian students because it means proximity to your home country and similar study-culture and job-market. Medium of instruction is English at both places so that’s a plus.  So what remains are some numbers and expenses to take a look at if you’ve no major preferences: Parameter McGill University Hong Kong University Acceptance Rate 45% 10% Tuition Costs 13583 - 34242 USD 11,500 – 34,000 USD Living Expenses 29142 USD 28,000-31,000 USD Placements 81%-95% depending on major Nearly 100% (2018) Subjects Subject wise- Rankings according to US News and World Report for University of Hong Kong and McGill are given below, respectively: Arts and Humanities: #23, #37 Engineering: #36, #84 Computer Science: #67, #127 Microbiology: #33, #60 Social Sciences and Public Health: #54, #36 Placements: Average monthly salary of HKU graduates ranged from 20,000-25,000 USD/month, whereas McGill graduates were offered an average salary of 87,000 CAD per annum.Read more

My mother has always been the driving force for my education. And my scholarships allowed me to make her proud. I cannot show enough gratitude to the University of Hong Kong for the opportunity to make my future better. By paying $450 for the application form I was able to submit my application along with my documents.

    Scholarship :

Various scholarships such as HKU Foundation Entrance Scholarships, Hon Ping Entrance Scholarships, Hong Kong Scholarship for the "Belt and Road" Students, and Sports Scholarship Scheme are available at the university. I availed of the Sports Scholarship Scheme. As I was good at sports and also had a good academic record, I was awarded the scholarship.
