    Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland only accepts applications for its Fall semester. WIT offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses across it’s six academic schools in Business, Engineering, Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences. The institute provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across popular fields. However, not all the programs are available for international students hence they are advised to check program availability and requirements before starting their application process.

    Admission Deadlines

    In most cases, different courses have different deadlines. Furthermore, for the international applicants, keeping in mind the visa approval and other formalities, there are different deadlines. Hence international students are advised to get in touch with the International admission office at Waterford Institute of Technology, before starting the application.

    As courses taught at Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland are taught in the English Language, therefore all the applicants are required to show a high level of competence in the English Language. Hence, the students who are from non - native English speaking countries must show proof about their English speaking proficiency, through one of the given tests below :

    Visa Application

    To apply for a visa to study in Ireland, the following documents will be asked from the applicant to be presented :

    • Copy of valid passport
    • Admission offer letter from WIT
    • Proof from the Institute that the student has paid full academic fees
    • Evidence of sufficient funds to pay for living expenses at Ireland
    • Passport size photographs
    • Visa application fee (non-refundable)

    Important documents required for application for bachelor’s programs at WIT:

    • Official high school transcripts
      • Must be translated in English
    • Copy of Passport photograph page
    • Copy of English language competence

    All these supporting documents have to be mailed at, before the given deadline to be considered for the admission.

    Please note: Once the admission is confirmed by the university, the student is required to have their Medical Insurance Policy in place before joining the university premises.

    Graduate Admissions

    Waterford Institute of Technology offers 11 postgraduate courses to its International applicants in Business, Engineering, and Humanities. International Applicants are advised to contact the International Admissions office before starting their application via PAC, to gain more clarity with respect to the guidelines of How to Apply and with the different application deadlines.

    Other than the requirement of the documents mentioned above, there might be some requirement for additional documents for specific post-graduate courses. Students are advised to make sure to check all the additional requirements for their course, so as to not have an incomplete application.

    After filling the admission form, don’t forget to email or send hard copies of the documents required. As incomplete applications aren’t processed by the admission committee, students are advised to send the documents to the admission office before the given deadline.

    Ques. How much money would an International student need for living expenses?

    Ans. As a guideline, we estimate that a student’s cost of living in Waterford is between 6,000 EUR and 8,000 EUR per annum.

    Ques. Can international students work in Ireland once they have completed their studies?

    Ans. Yes, international students can work in Ireland once they have completed their studies. Graduates of a level 7 (INFQ) qualification can work for a period of six months and graduates of a level 8, 9 or 10 qualification can work for a period of one year, from the date of their examination results under the Third Level Post-Study (graduate visa) Scheme.

    Ques. Are International students required to have private medical insurance cover while studying in Ireland?

    Ans. Private medical Insurance is a prerequisite for obtaining a student visa. The onus is on the individual student to obtain their own private medical insurance. This is a requirement to obtain a study visa to come and study in Ireland. Students may obtain medical insurance from their home country or an Irish provider.
