National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is an initiative by MHRD, India for providing a reliable ranking system for higher education in the country. NIRF ranks all the best law colleges in India out of which one college of lucknow has also found its place.

As per the NIRF website, it looks at the following factors while deciding the ranks of participating institutes. The major factors are Teachers & learning resources, General perception about the institute, Graduation outcome, Research & Professional Practice, and Outreach and Inclusivity. • Out of 35 colleges that took part in ranking, Amity University was ranked in 30th position.

• Lucknow University’s Law program was ranked 10 out of 45 colleges that took part in the survey of India Today 2019 Ranking.

There are 27 law colleges in the city of Lucknow, out of which 22 are private and 5 are public. The ratio of private to public colleges is 4.4. However, the state of Uttar Pradesh has in all 184 law colleges. Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU)

This University offers admission to BA.LLB and LLM which are both done online. The basic eligibility is 10+ 2 for LLB and candidate evaluation test here is the CLAT exam.

• The total intake for the LLB course is 178 candidates.
• One needs to sign up via their official website to apply for the college, be it LLB or LLM. There on the process is quite simple and straightforward.
• The candidates need to apply along with a fee of INR 4,000 and INR 3,500 for SC/ST candidates.
• Throughout the admission process, many numbers of seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBC candidates of UP state.
• Few other reservations one can note are: person with disability (PWD), women candidates, freedom fighter dependents of UP and children of UP state’s defence personnel.
• University also has to offer an integrated five-year course B.A- LLB, which provides the benefit of a double degree from a single course.

University of Lucknow (LU)

Lucknow university or the University of Lucknow as the title goes, offer a plethora of courses at a various level from UG to PhD.  The registration for one desired course, LLB in this case, needs a few steps to be followed.

• Register with a valid email and contact number on the admission section of the official college website.
• Pay the specified fee based upon the course and category to which the candidate belongs.
• The process of selection is primarily done based upon the Entrance test conducted by the university itself.
• Some of the major companies which recruit students from LU are ICICI bank, MRF tyres, HDFC bank, etc.

Amity University is known for being the best non- profit private university of India as per IndiaToday. The admission for graduate and postgraduate courses is both an entrance test followed by an interview.

• The candidate stands eligible if his 10+2 aggregate is over 55%. SC/ST candidates are given a relaxation of 5% more.
• Apart from higher secondary school marks, the English language test and Interview is taken into consideration while selecting.
• As expected one needs to submit the online application via their official website and pay a sum of INR 1100 in name of application fee.
• UG and PG candidates can opt between an online and offline way of applying, while PhD’s are left with an online-only option.
• Amity University also offers a 10% fee waiver for students who continue their higher studies at Amity.

Top Law Colleges in Lucknow Through CLAT Exam

CLAT which is the acronym for Common Law Admission Test is considered as an entrance by many top law colleges. One with 45% in secondary schooling is eligible for taking this test.

• There is no age limit to apply for the exam.
• Candidates appearing or having qualified class 12 with 45% marks (40% for SC, ST) satisfy CLAT 2020 Eligibility for LLB program.
• Around 2400 seats for LLB and 550 seats for LLM will be filled through CLAT 2020.
• CLAT 2020 Cutoff is generally released separately for 21 NLUs in the month of June 2020.

Note: Due to Covid 19, CLAT 2020 is delayed and so will be the cutoff. The exam is scheduled to be held on August 22 now.
