The course is usually case-based, where the case ranges from HBS to some written by our own faculty members. The Professors here have studied from top colleges and are masters in what they teach, they know what they are talking about. It is imperative for one to do pre-class reading, as there is heavy weightage given to the in-class participation. We have marks ranging from 10% to 30% for Class Participation, depending from course to course. There are three terms per year, further divided as 2 slots per term. The end of each slot sees exams. Each faculty member decides how he wishes to assess the student in that course. Some course has exams, while some have projects and assignments. The grading is relative and follows a normal distribution curve. If one studies well, it is easy to score well. It is said, 'It is very difficult for anyone to fail at IIMA.'
The fees are comparable with similar college. It ranges around Rs 23 Lakh for two years, which includes everything, except mess charges. 100% bank loans are provided by all the banks, with many giving loan without any mortgage or guarantor. The only thing you need to do is get admit, and then you don't need to think of finances. Along with this, there are many Government, Institutional and Private scholarship available at the campus. The process is simple and each scholarship's criteria is explained well to the batch at the start of the year. The Placements at the campus are one of the best across the campus. With the package here, one can easily pay off the loan in less than 2 years. It is one of the only 5 colleges which audits and publishes its placement report.

The course remains the same for all first year students ( 3 trimesters per year). This is to equip students with basic knowledge of all subjects. The students get an option to chose subjects of their choice in second year. Specialization is decided based on the maximum numbers of subject chosen from each domain. The decision to chose a subject is mostly dependent on the quality of the faculty, the feedback from the seniors and the interest of the student considering the relevance of the subject in today's world It is mandatory for all students to undergo a one month long social internship (most of the students get their internships under an NGO chosen by the college in their hometown) - a unique thing about NMIMS Day to day learnings in classes are driven by case based study approach. Harvard case studies are used for all subjects along with the regular text books. There are marks for mid terms, final terms, class assignment and class participation.
NMIMS has many committees where students can get into. There are committees that have huge responsibility on them like Placement Committee, Student Council, Industry Partnership cell and then there are domain wise clubs and cells like NJM (for marketing), Finomenon (for Finance) and Optimuz (for Operations). Joining any one of them basis the interest will guarantee additional knowledge and exposure apart from few extra lines on the CV. Apart from these there are interest based cells and societies for dramatics, dancing, photography etc. The annual business fest is Paragana which is held every year around October (www.paragana.nmims.edu). It contains inter college competitions, fests, seminars and corporate events. Classroom infra is quite modern and comparable to any top college of India. Lack of hostel is a major disadvantage for peer learning.
Affordability is an issue. The overall cost of MBA including accommodation and food is approximately 5-6 lacs more than the tuition fees. There were very less scholarship opportunities from the college (benefitting less than 5% of the students as far as I remember), however there are options of corporate scholarships. The college's affinity for money could be judged from the fact it is one of the few colleges which charges you even for attending the group discussion and personal interviews NMIMS MBA could arguably be one of the costliest MBA programs in India.
I have interest in this branch, so I took it. It is something which can be practically analysed and that is the point I was attracted to civil branch. Branch strength is about 300 and faculty is nearly 30 which means 1:10 ratio and it has subdivision in branch faculty wise like some faculty comes under water resource engineering. Most of the faculty are highly knowledgeable in their subject. Teaching methodology is through slide presentation. For numericals they will solve it on board. Every month you either have internal exam or term end exam , and each day you need to submit digital assignment of any of the subject, so it is a bit heavy. For passing the semester you need to be just attentive during class and submit assignment on time
There are two fest namely gravitas and riviera. graviatas is technical fest held in month of October and have thousands of external participant. Periyar library is one of the biggest in asia and approximately 2 lakh books are available. All classroom you will have benches and projector , some are smart class room like in every floor one or two. there is a department of physical education for sports, you have big play ground for cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis etc. there are 110+n clubs in college with 13 of them ngo. So you have great opportunity to join club of your interest
Placement is good if you are in cs,it ,ece or in short circuit; branches. Placements starts in month of july and will continue till next year april.Almost everyone get placed in a company, but it is upon your performance ,the ctc you are offered. they have categorised below 4 s regular, between 4 to 10 lpa as dream offer, and above 10 as super dream. you can avail a maximum of one offer per category and average placement is about 6 lpa. My plan is to do mba after engineering and have job in managerial role
