University of Waikato is a public University ranked among the world’s top 1.1% of universities. UoW was the 1st New Zealand University to receive Chinese Ministry of Education approval to fully deliver a degree in Chinese. University of Waikato enrolls over 12,000 students; both working and studying scholars in their fields. 2,000+ international students aspiring to study in New Zealand from more than 70 countries are also enrolled at the university. Waikato has internationally recognised research capabilities and facilities across numerous disciplines.
The University follows a trimester based calendar and invites applications for programs starting in March, July and September. Students can apply to the university by creating MyWaikato account and filling all necessary details. Students who are unable to submit all documents and results will receive a conditional offer for admission. The application deadlines at UoW for domestic and international students are different. The University allows around 30-45 days to international students for completion of enrollment while domestic students are given 4-5 days.
Due to COVID-19, the working of testing centres have been affected around the world. Therefore, University of Waikato will be accepting additional English language tests for Trimester A 2021. These include IELTS Indicator, TOEFL-IBT home edition and Duolingo English Test. Additionally, the university will accept IELTS test results completed in the last 3 years instead of the usual 2 years.

Visa Process for International Students
It is mandatory for all the international students to hold a valid student visa to study at University of Waikato. Students can apply for a visa online through the Immigration New Zealand website by paying an application fee of 330 NZD.

University of Waikato emails successful applicants after checking the application and supporting documents. Students will receive an Offer of Place which is a confirmation that the student has been accepted to the University. The University confirms whether the applicant is eligible to study the choice of papers and sends a confirmation with the Enrolment Agreement.
