The online examinations for postgraduate and undergraduate final-year students of Gujarat Technological University have ended. However, students’ troubles continue.
Students from engineering branches of civil, chemical and IC engineering have raised questions about MCQ questions which are apparently outside of the syllabus. There were also questions of 15 to 20 marks which were time-consuming. Some questions were borrowed from online portals that are meant for practice.

Around 200 students have written to GTU authorities asking for grace marks for the questions that were not from the syllabus.
The university had also claimed that the questions would not call for intricate calculations, but a student said that this was not the case. “70 minutes were not enough for the MCQ format exam and GTU must consider finding out if it will end up hurting students’ academics,” the student said.

Students have raised concerns in their emails to the vice-chancellor Navin Sheth and the official email address of the university, hoping that a solution will be provided. The vice-chancellor said that the source of the questions will be found out. It will also be determined if any wrong keys were asked before the evaluation process begins.
The result of the MCQ-based examination will be announced in 10 days’ time. GTU was the first university to hold an online MCQ-based examination; however, students have faced a number of issues from the start, ranging from not being able to log in, to difficulties in submitting the papers after the examination was finished.
