ABVP Urges Mumbai University To Instruct Colleges Not To Ask For Exam And Semester Fees; Students Threatened

A team of four members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) from the Mumbai Unit met Dr. Vinod Patil, Director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation, the University of Mumbai on July 1, 2020 and urged him to implement directives for not charging examination fees and next semester fees.

After being pressured to pay exam fees from several colleges under the University of Mumbai, the students wrote a letter to Dr. Patil, urging the exemption from the same.

ABVP National Secretary, Aniket Ovhal said that many students complained against colleges threatening them to pay the fees even after being directed by the university to not take the fees.

Adding to this he said, "In this time of crisis, paying fees will be a financial burden on the students. We are not saying that we will not pay the fees but once a final decision is taken as to how and when the exams will be conducted, the colleges can ask for it."

ABVP delegation led by Konkan State Secretary Prerna Pawar and Joint Secretary Amit Dhomse has now requested Dr. Patil to reiterate the message to the colleges.
