AIIMS Jammu, CSIR-IIIM Jammu Ink MoU to Conduct Scientific Research; Check Details Here

New Delhi: AIIMS, Jammu and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR IIIM) Jammu have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct scientific research.

Shakti Gupta, Director, AIIMS Jammu and D Srinivasa Reddy, the director of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR IIIM) Jammu signed the MoU for close scientific partnership with the union minister Jitendra Singh.

The union minister expressed his confidence in developing AIIMS Jammu as an artificial intelligence-based medicine hub of north India. Thus, the MoU was signed in the presence of Jitendra Singh, who visited the AIIMS Jammu campus for the inauguration of recently developed facilities and inspection of the upcoming new blocks.

According to the reports, the minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office said that it is a complimentary day as an MoU was signed between AIIMS Jammu and CSR-IIIM for closer collaboration.

Since both the prestigious institutions are committed to medical research and education, the MoU was signed to bring them closer for the betterment of the people, the reports said.

Suggesting to the AIIMS director, the minister of state said that every institution has exclusivity and the collaboration with CSR-IIIM will help the institute in achieving this goal.

Speaking during the signing of MoU, the union minister said that artificial intelligence and digital medicine have taken over in a big way in today's fast-paced world and that the Covid-19 pandemic has shown the importance of teleconsultation and telemedicine, while artificial intelligence provided an interface between the patient and the doctor.

The minister said that AIIMS Jammu will definitely develop itself as an artificial intelligence-based medicine hub of north India which will work as an inspiration for other institutions as well.

Praising the contributions of CSR-IIIM Jammu, Jitendra Singh said that despite the institute's inception before independence, it is now working on a maiden project to make cannabis-based drugs.

The partnership between the CSR-IIIM Jammu and AIIMS Jammu will be very productive and the clinical trials of the cannabis-based drug will be likely to get started in the AIIMS and Government Medical College, he said.

Singh added that the establishment of purple revolution and the aroma mission of the CSR-IIIM Jammu, has provided a new opportunity for the youth across the country in the start-ups, agriculture sector and entrepreneurship.

Further, he said that the Out Patient Department (OPD) services will commence immediately in AIIMS, Jammu and the first batch will move and operate from the premises from June 1, which will be followed by the second batch.

A total of 30 member faculties have already been inducted and the entire six-storey AIIMS building will be ready by early next year 2023.

He concluded by saying that It is an irony for the CSIR-IIIM Jammu and Government Medical College Jammu existing in the close vicinity of just about four kilometres from each other and even though both the institutions were committed to medical research, there was hardly any collaboration between the two in the past years.

In other news, J & K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the progress of ongoing mega projects of IIT Jammu, AIIMS, Jammu and Jambu Zoo through camera-mounted drones via videoconferencing from his office at the Raj Bhawan in Jammu on January 30, 2022.
