Ambedkar University Students Protested Outside CM's House Against High Fees & New Reservation Policy


A group of students from Ambedkar University protested outside the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house on October 21, 2020.

Ambedkar University students were protesting against the high fees collected by the University and the new reservation policy imposed.

Police officials mentioned that 13 students were detained and taken to the Civil Lines police station and were released later. Later on the students submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister’s office. 

The memorandum stated that the Ambedkar University administration has removed the late fine amount and extended the last date of fee payment to resolve the high fees crisis.

The university has also offered a mechanism of paying fees in installment for certain students. But the core concern of the student's demand was not resolved with these solutions.

“We would like to bring your attention specifically to the unconstitutional changes that have been made to the reservation policy in our university,” the students claimed.

The students alleged that an unreasonably high amount of fee was charged to students even in the time of the Global pandemic.

Ambedkar University has mentioned that it will be introducing five new courses for the next semester, including an M.Phil degree in Disability Studies.

The student intake of the university will also be increasing to over 1800. Read More

The university has also introduced M.A in Hindi and MBA in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development at the postgraduate level and BBA and B.Voc. in Accounting & Finance at the undergraduate level. Read More
