Dr. Mandalapu Saradadevi is the Principal of Ahmedabad Institute of Technology, Gujarat, India. She has 27 years of academic experience and holds several positions with various academic institutes and universities. She has chaired many technical sessions at International Conferences in India and abroad. She worked as a reviewer for many International Conferences and Journals in India and abroad. She has over 30 publications in International Conferences and Journals. Her research work has more than 320 citations.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Connecting with youth and continuous knowledge up-gradation is an essential requirement these days”

Being in the technical education field one has to update the knowledge as technology is rapidly changing. Connecting with youth who are the future of the world and contributing to their progress gives immense satisfaction for me. Further, I can set up new educational standards according to the needs of students.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“I believe in transformational leadership, that allows creating positive changes in the system”

I believe in empowering the stakeholders to have a say in the decision making process and goal setting. My philosophy of leadership includes Inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and the ability to energize the team and commit to their professional growth. 

How do you plan for the marketing of your Institute?

“Implementing best practices of digital marketing for a modified online presence”

The key programs for marketing our institute includes

• Advertise in websites that reach the target audience 
• Optimizing our website with SEO best practices.
• Create landing pages for individual programs. 
• Use social media channels, especially LinkedIn and Facebook.

What do you think your responsibilities to the Institute and the students are?

“The role of a principal is to provide strategic direction and motivation to the institute”

The role of the principal is to assess teaching methods, monitor student achievements, revise policies and procedures, hire and evaluate staff and oversee facilities. Effective leadership is essential to create a learning environment where students are allowed to develop creativity and learn new things.

What is your opinion about the changes required in present technical education?

“Technology integrating into education helps the students to learn at their own pace”

Educational institutes contribute to the development of resources. Technology is integrated into every sector in education. Educators can now use other modes of delivery to teach and communicate with students apart from classroom teaching. Stakeholders are realizing that one size fits all approach is no longer applicable, students are allowed to learn at their own pace.

How do you nurture creativity amongst students?

We nurture creativity among students by arranging Various Skill Enhancement Workshops, institute level Hackathons, and other Technical Competitions. Additionally, Publishing NEWSletters and regularly conducting different activities through various institute level and departmental level clubs.

How does your Institute showcase its involvement with the community?

“By actively participating in events with a social cause such as walkathons, donations & awareness programs”

We believe that one should contribute to the betterment of the community. We try to imbibe community service in our students through various activities like Blood Donation Camps organized twice every Year, Tree plantation every year by newly admitted students. Being a technical institute we contributed to Digital India by delivering talks on “Digital literacy – A Step towards digitization” in 32 Schools of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Our students participated in Theme based Walkathon – Say no to drugs.
