Dr. Ramanjeet Singh is the Dean of Marketing, Planning and Corporate Affairs at the Om Sterling Global University, Hisar. He has a varied experience of more than 20 years in various educational institutions in teaching, academic and administrative positions. He did his Ph.D. in Management after completion of MBA and M.Com. He has also done LLB and is a member of various taxation and finance committees and bodies. His core skills include maintaining Office protocols and procedures, Report Writing and Editing, Information Management systems, Public and Customer relations, Time Management and Prioritization.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Constant learning and having to upskill for the current trends” 

The job satisfaction levels in higher education are traditionally high and it is very rewarding to work there. The research and education we are conducting will benefit society in the long run, as well as supporting the welfare of students. Feeling that our role has a positive impact on society is very fulfilling. Universities are stimulating environments, full of new ideas and intelligent debate. 


What is your philosophy of leadership?

“I would describe my leadership style as direct, and leading by example” 

I enjoy delegating tasks and taking the lead on projects, but I also like to stay involved and inspire my team by showing that I’m working hands-on to help them. Leadership for me is not flaunting authority. It is about taking responsibility for meeting the objectives of the institute and inspiring the team to own up to their own responsibility.


How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?

“With help of industry experts and top leaders in our Board of studies”

We make it a point to revise our courses and curriculum on the advice of our good academicians with a broad vision. It is mandatory that every board of studies within each institute under the university has at least two members from the industry. In addition to advice from industry sources, we also look for suggestions on curriculum revisions from guest faculty, industry members on-site visits, our recruiters, etc. Incorporating their feedback into our curriculum gives our students - our products - the ability to become true industry-ready professionals.

How does your college allow the development of students from diverse backgrounds?

“A non-discriminatory environment for students from different backgrounds”

OSGU boasts of a culturally diverse environment at the campus. We have students from 18 Indian States, 3 Union Territories, and 10 Nations. The Department of Student Welfare encourages students to mingle and share their cultures via cultural events organized quarterly. The language barrier is taken care of with communication classes introduced at the beginning of the session. Under cultural exchange programs organized by the Office of International Relations, our students are visiting various partner Universities worldwide.


How do you tend to establish a relationship with the students?

“General talks and sessions allow students to interact positively”

Om Sterling global University is a student-centred University. As a major stakeholder in the University, our students are a part of Advisory Committees. Our present and past students are our ambassadors. General talks and sessions which take place regularly during the semester allow students to interact directly with the management. They can raise their concerns, clear doubts and give us feedback. This unique initiative allows us to improve our work as an educational institute.


What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“To have an eclectic mix of disciplines and subject domains”

OSGU is provided by accommodating several streams as diverse as engineering and humanities and social sciences. Through our understanding of the importance of interdisciplinary courses, we have introduced open electives under the choice-based credit system. The goal is to increase the rigour and reach global standards in every discipline.

Any suggestions for the aspiring students?

“Achieve a balance between your professional and personal lives by adapting to a changing environment”

The most important suggestion I want to give is about decision making. It is undoubtedly the most crucial aspect of a student’s life. I insist students make decisions, not by their emotional senses, but by their cognitive senses. Enquire experts, discuss with peers, and listen to what their parents have to say, but ultimately decide by and for themselves. Let them discover their own fact-finding mechanism. Strive and drive to achieve the same no matter what it takes.
