September 28, 2020: Delhi University (DU) is planning to promote intermediate students who have backlogs for the next academic grade without appearing for the examination.
Delhi University students who have received backlogs in their examination can carry forward with their subjects they have failed. The students have to clear the examination for the course they have failed when the next examination will be held (as per the cycle of the semester/span period).
The official statement by DU reads, “The students shall be allowed to carry forward the subjects in which he/she failed in a semester/year and shall be promoted to the next year.
However, such students may clear the examination for the course in which he/she has failed/remained absent, when examinations are held next year as per the cycle of the semester and the span period.”
On the other hand, the students of the second semester or fourth semester of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses of DU will be promoted for the next academic session, irrespective of their backlogs.
The decision made by Delhi University is not applicable for Council Mandatory Courses, including Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) and School of Open Learning (SOL) Students.
Students who have backlogs will have to give the examination whenever held next. Meanwhile, students can carry forward with their next academic session. The provision is only applicable for the academic year 2019-2020.
The decision to promote the intermediate students with backlog without appearing for examination is taken due to the coronavirus situation.
