JEE Advanced Result Analysis

JEE Advanced Result Analysis

As one of the hardest exams in terms of difficulty and competition for limited seats, this entrance exam often takes years of hard work to crack. It is one of the few entrance exams in India in which there is no set pattern; it is subject to change every year to ensure that only the very best are admitted to either these 23 highly prestigious institutions.

  • Only about 4.3% of the total number of examinees (10988 seats for 250000 students) are admitted to the IIT.

  • 2019 - 1.73 lakh students registered out of 2.45 lakh who qualified from JEE Mains. Out of that, 33349 were male candidates and 5356 were female.

  • 2018 - Out of 155158 candidates who appeared for the exam, only 18138 qualified out of which 16062 were male and 2076 female.

  • 2017 - In this year, 159540 students appeared and 50455 students qualified. 43318 male and 7137 female examinees cracked the exam.

  • The level of difficulty is expected to get tougher each year due to the rising number of students participating in JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced Score Calculation

JEE Advanced Score Calculation

Candidates who appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for the Common Rank List (CRL). factors taken into consideration for score calculation are:

  • Marks obtained by a candidate in a particular subject will be a combination of the marks obtained in both the papers.

  • Rank list released by the conducting body will be on the basis of aggregate marks.

  • Tie breaking policy: If the scores of two candidates are the same, then the higher rank will be given to the candidate with a higher score in mathematics.

  • If their score in maths is the same, then the one with a higher score in physics will be assigned a higher rank. If that too is also the same, a similar process will be followed for chemistry score.

  • If their scores achieved in chemistry are the same too, then both candidates will be assigned the same rank.

  • A candidate will be considered for all categories if qualified for more than one for all applicable categories.

JEE Advanced Cutoff Process

  • The cutoff for each student depends on their category. For candidates belonging to PwD, the cutoff will be the same as the lowest cutoff for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and General.
