IIT JAM 2019 is an online computer based test conducted for candidates who have completed their Bachelor's degree in engineering and are willing to pursue their Master's degree from the prestigious IITs in India. **IIT JAM 2019** is expected to be held on February 2019 and official dates are not announced yet.

As per IIT JAM Exam Pattern, a total of 60 questions are asked and the paper is divided into 3 sections. Section A will be of Multiple Choice Questions** (MCQ) **type, Section B of Multiple Select Questions** (MSQ)** type and Section C of Numerical Answer Type** (NAT) **questions. JAM 2019 comprises two sessions, each of which will be of 3 hours and have different sets of JAM papers.

The first session will take place between 9:00 am to 12:00 pm while the second session will take place between 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Session 1 will have Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematical Statistics (MS) whereas the second session will have Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH) test papers. Candidates need to appear for any one of the seven test papers or they can appear for one test paper from each session and thus can appear for two in total.

### IIT JAM 2019 Exam Pattern in Detail

IIT JAM 2019 exam is conducted in two sessions. The first session of JAM 2019 will begin at 9:00 and last for 3 hours while the second session will begin at 2:00 pm.

Each session of JAM is reserved for different sets of test papers. There are 7 test papers distributed between these two session.

#### Exam Pattern for Section A

- Section A will have total
**30 MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)****.** - Each question will carry one or two marks.
- Each question will contain four optional answers, candidates must choose the right answer only.
- Candidates can answer by clicking the given choices.
- For each right answer candidate will be given 1 or 2 marks and for each wrong answer, 1/3 or 2/3 mark will be deducted.

### IIT JAM 2019 Important Instructions

There are certain instructions and guidelines regarding IIT JAM 2019 that must be followed by candidates. The same have been mentioned below.

- Calculators, mobiles phones or any type of electronic devices are not allowed once you enter the examination hall. IIT JAM provides you an inbuilt online calculator on your system.
- Candidates are also not allowed to bring Charts, sheets or tables inside the examination hall. Scribble pads will be made available to all candidates for rough work
- All candidates will be allowed to enter the examination hall 35 minutes prior to the start of the exam and will be allowed to leave once the exam is completed.
- Anyone who reports late to the examination center will not be allowed to appear for the JAM 2019 Exam.
- Any candidates found using, or in possession of any unauthorized material will be treated as unfair means and will lead to cancellation of his/her candidature as well as disqualification from appearing in JAM in future.
