COVID-19: Vellore Institute of Technology Cancels VITMEE 2020

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University has cancelled the Vellore Institute of Technology Masters Entrance Examination (VITMEE) for this year. The application window for VITMEE has been closed.

However, students can still apply for admission to the postgraduate courses at VIT. They can apply for M.Tech until 20 June 2020. Counselling for M.Tech admission is scheduled to start from the second or third week of July.

Earlier, the online registration for VITMEE 2020 had been extended to 15 May (23:59 hours) as many potential candidates were unable to apply for the examination due to the lockdown.

As VITMEE 2020 has been scrapped, there will be no separate examination for admission to postgraduate courses in engineering. The counselling for this year will be based on the candidates’ academic performance (marks up to a pre-final year) in a regular undergraduate degree. Candidates with a superior track record will have the chance to get admitted to VIT University directly. Candidates who have taken the GATE are also eligible to apply. They will not have to take an additional test for admission to VIT.

More details about the cancellation of VITMEE 2020 will be announced on the official website of the institute.
