VITEEE 2021 Registration, Steps to Apply, Application Fee and Dates

VITEEE registration 2021 will start online and offline from the third week of September, 2020 and continue till the last week of February, 2021. Candidates can fill the form online through the official website vit.ac.in. or can alternatively visit either one of the VIT campuses to collect the application forms. Registration fee for both male and female candidates paying online is INR 1250 and INR for offline applicants irrespective of categories. 

The Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination is conducted every year by VIT University, Vellore. The test was first conducted online in the year 2013. It is a Computer Based Test (CBT) that assesses a candidate’s knowledge on topics such as Physics, Chemistry, English, Aptitude, and Biology/Mathematics.

  • While there is no limit on the number of attempts one can take, the minimum age criteria is set by the authorities. Candidates must not be below 17 years of age by the first of July, 2021.

  • Each year there are about 2 lakh applicants from all over India competing for a total of 5000 seats for various B.Tech programs in 4 campuses - Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amravati.

  • Candidates must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics in their 10+2 level to be eligible for the VITEEE

  • Candidates can choose from 120 cities as their examination centre from across India and 4 cities outside of India.

Though there are no limits on the number of times candidates can sit for this test, students who are willing to take the VITEEE examination must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must either be an Indian resident or non resident Indian citizen. Foreign candidates who are currently studying or have studied have to apply directly under foreign category.

  • Candidates must have secured 60% marks in aggregate in their 10+2 level or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.

  • Candidates should have a pass certificate of class 12 exam conducted by the state board. State board refers to either CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) or ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education).

  • Candidates will be given a 10% relaxation in marks if they belong to ST/SC category or are from Jammu and Kashmir/ North Eastern states (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura).

  • VIT sets the minimum qualifying age every year. Your date of birth cannot be before the first of July, 1999 to be considered eligible for VITEEE 2021.

The fee structure applicable for all categories of students irrespective of genders has been given below:

  1. For online registration - INR 1150

  2. For offline registration - INR 1250

  3. For foreign candidates - $ 50 

Candidates can pay online through either debit or credit cards, net banking, cash card or wallet, or UPI transaction. 

To pay offline, draw a demand draft in the name of the university. 


Documents Required

Candidates are advised to keep the following documents handy while filling the online form of VITEEE Registration 2021:

  1. Pass certificate or class 10 marksheet.

  2. Your class 12 or equivalent marksheet.

  3. A scanned copy of your passport size photograph.

  4. A scanned copy of your full signature.

  5. Documents for category verification (if applicable).

Best Practices for Document Upload

Candidates are advised to follow the instructions set by the conducting authorities while uploading the required documents. Failure to follow these instructions might result in cancellation of your application.

For photo upload:

  • The photograph must be a colored one.

  • Background of the photo must be a light one. White background is preferred. 

  • The view of the photo must be full frontal with visible ears and open eyes.

  • If the candidate wears spectacles, no glare should be present on the screen of the glasses. 

  • Size of the photo should be 3.5 cm in width and 4.5 cm in height.

  • Format should be .jpeg or .jpg only.

  • Size of photograph should be above 10 kb and not exceed 200 kb.

  • Candidates are not allowed to upload selfie photos.

For signature upload:

  • To upload your signature, draw a rectangular box of dimensions 6 cm in width and 2 cm in height on white A4 size paper.

  • Put your signature on this rectangle box using a pen with a blue or black ink. 

  • Scan the signature using a scanner in .jpeg or .jpg format and crop the image.

  • The cropped image should be of the following dimensions - 3.5 cm in width and 1.5 cm in height. 

  • You can use MS paint to crop the image by opening it with paint and cropping the box in which you put your signature. 

  • Size of the scanned image of your signature must be above 10 kb and not exceeding 200 kb.

Follow the instructions given below to complete the application process:

  1. Registration for new users:

  • Visit the official website of VITEEE; vit.ac.in

  • Find the application link and click on the “New user register here” link. 

  • Enter the required information; your name, date of birth, gender, residential address, and email address carefully. 

  • On clicking the register button, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. 

  • Once you enter the OTP correctly, the password will be sent to your registered email address. 

  • Save the password for future use. 

Note: Practise extra caution while entering your mobile number, corresponding address, and email address as these details cannot be changed under any circumstances once entered. 
  1. Sign in 

  • Go back to the application page by clicking on the to continue with your application.

  • Log in using your registered email address and the password received from VIT.

  • Enter the captcha and submit to continue. 

  1. Fill up the application form online

  • On the left hand side of the application page, you will find the link to the application form. Enter that link.

  • Read the guidelines carefully, check the agreement check box and click on the “I Agree” button. 

  • In the next page, you have to enter your address details such as pincode, state name, district name, full address and city name. 

  • Next, enter your educational details such as board and school name. 

  • Finally, you will be required to enter address details of your school such as pincode, full address, city, along with the year of your graduation.

  • Click on the “save and next” button to proceed.

  • Next, enter your test city preference, the subject that you would like to sit for. You will be given two options to choose from Maths/Physics/Chemistry/English/Aptitude (MPCEA) or Biology/Physics/Chemistry/English/Aptitude (BPCEA). 

  • Finally, select the source through which you came to know about VITEEE. Again, click on the “save and next button”. 

  1. Payment of registration fees

  • In this tab, choose your preferred method of payment and click on the “proceed to pay button”.

  • Your registration fee will be displayed. Confirm the same and pay the amount. 

  1. Document upload

  • In this step, candidates are to upload scanned copies of their photo and signature.

  • After uploading the images, click on the save and next button. 

  • In the next page, you will be shown the uploaded images of your photo and signature. Check the same and submit to confirm.

  • Candidates can edit their application form or uploaded images if any mistakes were made while filling the form. 

  • You can download your application form by clicking on the “download your filled in application form button”. 

Note: payment once made cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

Candidates who have submitted their application online can edit some details in the form not entered correctly. Information like name, mobile number, email address, and cannot be changed. In order to change other details, follow the given instructions below:

  • Log in using the right credentials.

  • You will find the edit option. Click on that option to start editing. 

  • Make the changes you need and click on the save button after editing.

  • Note: After the final date of application, candidates can no longer make changes. 


VITEEE Slot Booking

VITEEE will take place in multiple sessions. After successfully completing the registration, candidates will be able to book the online slot. Slots will be given on a first come first serve basis. In order to book your slot, follow the given steps below:

  • Login to the official website with your registration number and password. 

  • In the new window that opens, confirm the application details that you previously entered. 

  • Click on the “book a seat link”

  • Next, enter the required information like test city, state, country, and subject code.

  • Select the test date on which you would like to give the test as per your convenience.

  • Select the test centre and click on the book button to confirm.

Note: You have to select the slot within a minute to retain the particular option which might be otherwise lost.

  • Collect the application form from either one of the VIT campuses.

  • Fill out the form and mail the same to the university through post.

Question: How can I apply for VITEEE Chennai?

Ans. Candidates can apply both online and offline. For online application, visit the official website, register yourself and fill the application form with the required documents and make the payment. To apply offline, visit either one of the campuses and get the application form. After filling the details, mail the same after paying the money in the bank. 

Question: What is the eligibility for taking the VITEEE examination?

Ans. Candidates who have secured at least 60% marks on aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology in their 12th standard are eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to the SC/ST community or students who are from Jammu & Kashmir or North Eastern states will get a 10% relaxation. 

Question: The scanned copies of my signature and photo are not uploading. What should I do?

Ans. Usually images fail to upload if the proper dimensions are not met. Ensure that the dimensions are correct and if that does not work refresh the page and try again.

Question: What is the mode of exam for the VITEEE?

Ans. The mode of exam is online. It is a Computer Based Test (CBT). The test will be of 2.5 hours and 125 MCQ type questions will be asked. 

Question: What is the application fee for VITEEE?

Ans. Online applicants are to pay INR 1150 and offline applicants have to pay INR 1250. This fee structure is applicable for all genders and categories. NRI students are to pay $50 USD to apply for VITEEE.
