NID 2019 is national level entrance exam conducted by National Institute of Design for various UG and PG design courses scheduled to take place in January 2019. All aspirants for NID DAT 2019 can fill application form online on the official website, i.e. The exam will be of 3 hours with subjective and objective type questions. NID DAT 2019 Application Form will be available tentatively from October 2018 in the online mode.

  • Candidates can pay the application fee via online and offline mode.
  • For M.Des program, candidates must not be more than 30 years.
  • For B.Des and GDPD program candidates must not be more than 20 years of age.
  • Candidates qualifying the Prelims round will be eligible to appear for Mains exam.
  • NID 2019 is a 3-hour exam comprising both subjective and objective type questions. 
  • NID will release separate admit cards for both Prelims and Mains round.

Candidates appearing for NID DAT get admission in NID Ahmedabad, NID Gujarat, NID Bangalore, NID Kurukshetra and NID Vijayawada (Diploma courses). After clearing NID DAT Prelims round, selected candidates will have to appear for Studio Test round and Personal Interview round.

NID 2019 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility conditions for both UG and PG level programs are tabulated below.

B. Des. & GDPD
  • Not more than 20 years as on June 30, 2019, for General candidates and Foreign Nationals
  • Not more than 23 years as on June 30, 2019, for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates.
  • Not more than 25 years as on June 30, 2019, for Indian PWD candidates.
Academic Qualification Successfully completed or appearing for 10+2 examination or equivalent from any recognized Board.
M. Des
  • Not more than 30 years as on June 30, 2019 for General candidates and Foreign Nationals
  • Not more than 33 years as on 30 June 2019 for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates.
  • Not more than 35 years as on January 19 for Indian PWD candidates.
Academic Qualification
  • Bachelor degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, from any recognized University.
  • Applicant must have passed or have appeared for or be appearing for qualifying examinations before July 2019. 
  • Bachelor degree of minimum 3-year duration in any discipline.
  • Applicants must have passed the Bachelor’s degree examination before July 2018.
  • Full-time Diploma (Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/Architecture) of minimum 4-year duration, from any recognized university.
  • Applicant must have passed or have appeared for or be appearing for qualifying examinations before July 2019.

NID 2019 Application Process

NID 2019 Application Form is expected to be available from October 2019. Applicants need to visit the official website, i.e. and register before proceeding to fill the application form. Upon successful registration, applicant’s login credentials will be sent via email to the registered email address and they must login with the same.

After filling in the details in the application form, candidates must upload their Applicant’s recent passport-size colour photograph as well as signature in JPG/JPEG format not exceeding 100 KB in memory size.

Candidates applying for the OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PWD categories are required to upload their valid Caste Certificate/Tribe Certificate/Disability Certificate respectively, issued by a competent authority. The certificate must be in JPG/JPEG format, not exceeding 150 KB in memory size. Overseas candidates need to upload the first and last pages of their valid passport, clearly showing all of their personal information. The document must be in JPG/JPEG format, not exceeding 150 KB in memory size.

After uploading the required documents, Application Fee can be paid online via Credit/Debit Card or offline via demand draft.  Category-wise Application fees for NID 2019 are tabulated below.

Note that NID DAT 2019 Application Form completed after the submission deadline has to deposit double the Application Fee indicated above.

NID 2019 Admit Card

NID 2019 Admit Card will be available for download from the official website separately for Prelims and Mains exam of both UG and PG levels according to the schedule. Applicants are advised to download and obtain prints of the same as without the Admit Card, they will not be allowed to appear for the tests.

Candidates can download their NID 2019 Admit Card by following these steps:

  • Visit the official website of NID -
  • Click on the relevant link of NID 2019 Admit Card.
  • Fill in the required details and click submit button.
  • In case the candidate has forgotten their application no., click on “Click here to view your application”.
  • Click on “submit” to see the application number
  • The NID 2019 Admit card will be generated on the screen. Take a printout and keep it safely.

NID 2019 Exam Centers

Applicants can specify their choice of Test Center in their Application Form. However, the final allocation of test centers is done my NID. Once allocated, no request for any change in test center will be entertained. DAT Prelims for NID Admission 2019 is expected to be conducted in the following cities:

NID Reserves the rights to add or remove any number of exam center if the situation demands so. DAT Mains exam for B.  Des and GDPD will be held in Ahmedabad only while the exams for M. Des will be held in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bengaluru.

NID 2019 Exam Pattern

NID 2019 is a 3-hour exam comprising both objective and subjective questions.  The exam assesses candidates on five parameters namely, Creativity, Comprehension, Knowledge, Analysis, and Visualization. Check below some highlights of NID 2019 Exam Pattern

  • The exam is an offline, paper-based test split into 2 sections: Objective, MCQ type with OMR Response sheet carrying a score of 70, and a Subjective section of 30 marks.
  • All questions in DAT Prelims are compulsory to attend and there is no provision for negative marking.
  • DAT Mains for B. Des and GDPD will be a 3-hour studio round wherein applicants have to draw/sketch/make models or engage in group discussions.
  • DAT Mains for M. Des consists of 2 parts: Studio Test and Interviews wherein the first part applicants will be asked to draw/sketch/make models or engage in group discussions.
  • The test would be of 3 hours’ duration with a maximum score of 100.
  • Interviews will be held separately for each discipline soon after the studio round.

NID 2019 Result

NID 2019 Result for UG and PG Programs will be announced on different dates. The Result will be available to download from the official website of NID. Once the results of DAT Prelims are announced, NID will release the provisional and final answer keys for the convenience of examinees.

NID 2019 Result can be checked by the candidates by following these steps:

  • Enter roll no. and application no. and click submit.
  • The result will appear on the screen
  • Take the printout and keep it for further reference.

NID 2019 Cut Off

Separate Cut Offs will be released for NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains exam. Only candidates who secure NID DAT Prelims cut-off scores are eligible to take part in the subsequent Studio Test and Interview round for NID admissions.

In case of M. Des admissions, based on the category-wise merit list of DAT Prelims, the number of candidates shortlisted for DAT Mains, in each category and discipline is 5 times the number of available seats in each category and respective discipline.

In case of B. Des/GDPD admissions, based on the category-wise merit list of DAT Prelims, the number of candidates shortlisted for DAT Mains in each category is 3.5 times the number of available seats in each category and respective discipline.

The score secured by the last candidate in the NID general merit list will be considered as the NID cut-off score. Separate cut-off scores will be released for each category of candidates in NID 2019. Expected NID 2019 Cut Off has been tabulated below.

NID 2019 Counselling

NID 2019 Counselling is expected to be held in the first week of June 2019. Candidates featuring in the Final Merit List will be offered admission in NID on the basis of their placement in the said list. NID Counselling 2019 comprises three steps, namely:

  • submission of online consent by selected candidates,
  • uploading of all required documents within the deadline,
  • issuance of the provisional offer for admission.

Candidates must present all documents in originals as well as copies for document verification during the counseling process of NID Admission 2019. These documents must include all academic certificates up till the qualifying examination, birth certificate, documents in the specified format to support claims for reservation, Photo ID proofs etc.

In case the candidate fails to show up and present the required documents at the time of NID admission, the candidature is likely to be summarily cancelled. Once the provisional admission offer is issued, candidates need to present all documents uploaded earlier along with the Demand Draft towards the payment of Admission Fee, in person, at the specified campus as per schedule notified by the Admission Committee for confirmation of Admission.
