Engineering to be taught in mother-tongue, Change in NTA exam syllabus likely says Education Ministry: Read Details Here

Additionally, National Testing Agency has been directed to form a new syllabus for exams, including JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021, on the basis of board exam syllabi.

The major decisions were taken after Pokhriyal conducted a review meeting to test the performance of the Education Ministry's schemes and programs.

According to the statement issued by the education ministry, Pokhriyal, “directed UGC to ensure all scholarships, fellowships are disbursed in time and to start a helpline for the same. He also directed that all the grievances of the students be redressed immediately.” 

For technical education, especially engineering, to be taught in the mother-tongue from the next year, "a few Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technology (NITs) are being shortlisted" added the statement.

JEE Main 2021, NEET 2021 Syllabus

During the meeting, it was also informed that the National Testing Agency issue a new syllabus for the exams it conducts, including JEE Main 2021 for engineering and NEET 2021 for medicine, "after assessment of the existing scenario in various boards".

Moreover, most state and central school education boards, including the CBSE, have reduced their board exam syllabi because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

The statement also reads, “It was also decided that a campaign would be launched by the Education Ministry to seek views from students, parents, and teachers on how and when to conduct the exams next year.”
