IIM SAP 2023: Dates, How to Apply, Cut off

IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu will conduct the Supplementary Admission Process (SAP) for the year 2023 for students who have not received any call from the CAP. SAP is conducted by IIMs when seats are still vacant after the CAP is complete. 

Institutes like IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu will be holding IIM SAP 2023 jointly and the personal interview will consist of joint committee members from both institutes.

What is IIM SAP?

Like the Common Admission Process, IIM SAP includes a cutoff which is generally set lesser than the CAP cutoff. IIM SAP is conducted to provide an opportunity to the desirous and potential candidates, who somehow couldn't avail admission in IIM CAP. 

Is the IIM SAP process the same for all institutes?

The Supplementary Admission Process for all IIMs varies. For instance, the IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu conduct SAP jointly. Whereas IIM Sambalpur conducts SAP for female candidates only, who do not get a call through IIM CAP. 

Is IIM SAP the same as IIM CAP?

IIM SAP and CAP are somewhat the same, the difference between the two depends on the IIM cutoff only. IIMs release cutoff for all the three subjects- DILR, VARC, and QA separately for all the categories of candidates. Similarly, for IIM SAP, the cutoff is released for all the categories, which is generally lesser than IIM CAP. 

Both CAP and SAP included Written Ability Test and a Personal Interview. But due to the pandemic outbreak, this year WAT will not be held for both IIM SAP and CAP. 

How to Apply for IIM SAP 2023?

Candidates willing to appear for IIM SAP will have to fill an application form online on the concerned institute website along with the required document submission. There is no separate application fee to be paid for IIM SAP. However, if a candidate misses out on any of the required documents, he/she has to fill an undertaking for For incomplete Documents for IIM Supplementary Admission Process 2023.

Once the IIM SAP is conducted, the institutes prepare their merit list, which includes their own criteria set for CAT score, Personal Appearance, and Profile. 

After the declaration of the IIM merit list, candidates have to register for the expression of interest. Only the registered candidates will receive the admission offer depending upon the vacant seat and his/her order in the merit list. Candidates accepting offers are required to pay the requisite acceptance fee online.

What is IIM SAP Selection Criteria?

IIM SAP selection criteria start only after the completion of CAP counseling. For the vacant seats:

• IIMs shortlist candidates based on CAT percentile: The candidates are shortlisted for the SAP counseling based on the CAT percentile released by the institute. The CAT cut-off is always lower than the qualifying CAT cut-off for the SAP counseling. For example, the IIM Jammu Cut off 2023 is 90, now the candidates who will be shortlisted for the SAP 2023 counseling will be somewhat near the 88-87 CAT percentile. Similarly, the IIM Bodh Gaya Cut off 2023 is 93, the candidates shortlisted for the SAP 2023 will have 90-89 percentile in the CAT overall Cut off.
• WAT and PI round: The shortlisted candidates are then called for the WAT and PI round. This year, there will be no WAT round due to the pandemic but generally, there is an IIM WAT round followed by GD and PI rounds. 
• Final Merit List for Selection: Like for the CAP counseling, the institute prepares the final list of candidates on the basis of CAT score, PI round marks, Gender diversity, Pas academic records Work Experience, etc. The weightage given to these parameters remains the same.
