GNDU: University to Conduct Offline Examinations From December 14; Check Details Here

Guru Nanak Dev University has announced that they will conduct offline examinations from December 14 onwards. The varsity has issued instructions to various concerned departments for the preparation of the exams.

GNDU took this decision due to the request put forward by the various teaching departments of the University. According to them, exams should be held without any further delay since classes have been going on from July this year.

They further said that any further delay in the exams of this session would result in a delay of the next academic year. To prevent such a situation, they urged the University to hold the exams as soon as possible.

Heeding their requests, the University has given a window between December 14 and January 21, 2021 to various departments to conduct exams. Accordingly, the exams will be held in two shifts.

The controller of Examinations, GNDU, Mr. Manoj Kumar said that since online classes were being held from July, there was an urgent need to hold the exams. He also stated that the exams will be conducted in a staggered manner.

To prevent an outbreak among the student population, the exams will be held in two shifts- morning and evening. Further, all safety protocols as issued by the University and the state will be followed. The datesheet for the exams will also be announced shortly by the University.

In the instruction released by the GNDU, the authorities said that exams for each class be split fortnightly or weekly. In addition, the question papers will also be prepared internally as a one time measure.

Meanwhile, students were speculative of the decision to hold offline exams. They raised concerns over the safety and viability of the exams. A student said that even after the reopening of the University, many students have not come back to attend offline classes.

Furthermore, many hostel students were yet to arrive at the University. There was also the issue of lack of preparation. Previously, the datesheet used to be released at least 3 weeks prior. But now, the students were left with very little time for preparations.
