GU Offline Classes May Begin for Final Year UG and PG Students from Jan 18, Read Details Here


The Gujarat Government has provided permission to reopen college campuses and resume physical classes for final year undergraduate and postgraduate students from January 11, 2021.

Gujarat University (GU) has not yet planned to commence classroom education for its students and is unlikely to reopen the campus till January 18, 2021. 

At present, the colleges and PG centres affiliated to GU are being used as examination centres for the ongoing semester examination. Hence they are not available to reopen for classroom education.

The colleges and universities at Gujarat were being kept closed for the past 10 months from March 22, 2020, because of the lockdown imposed to restrict the spread of coronavirus and the government has now permitted to reopen them for final year UG and PG students.

The sources at GU stated that the students will not attend the offline classes on January 11 and they might need to wait for another week. 

In the meantime, the guidelines were issued for the colleges affiliated to Gujarat Technical University (GTU) . Colleges were advised to follow the safety precautions mentioned in the guidelines strictly to contain the spread of COVID 19.

The Government’s decision to reopen the colleges and resume offline education for final year UG and PG students were appreciated and welcomed by the College Management Association and the University Teachers Association.
