Gujarat High Court has refused a petition filed by 14 students of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) contesting the option of offline exams to be conducted by the varsity. The court issued the order following a statement submitted by the varsity.
GTU students from various departments of engineering had filed a petition recently in the High Court. They asked for involvement in the decision to commence the offline exam taken by the varsity. The students preferred the online exam method in the current COVID situation.

GTU proclaimed that they are not the only varsity to commence the offline exams. Other State Universities have also completed offline exams successfully.
The GTU announced offline examinations for diploma and degree engineering courses on December 17. This year approximately 5000 students from outside have enrolled in GTU.
GTU Counsel DG Shukla said that the varsity has filed and submitted a statement on this issue. They have explained the need for physical examination as the present situation is coming back to normal.
Apart from this, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) students have also filed a petition to Karnataka HC against conducting an offline examination. A total number of 125 Students of VTU have contested the decision of the varsity.
At first, VTU announced that first-year and supplementary exams for session 2020-21 will be conducted online on October 19, 2020, due to the pandemic. The petitioner has appealed that the decision of VTU to execute offline exams disregards the right of the health care provider to obey article 21 and article 14.
