Gujarat University Final-Year Offline Exams Commence Today


Gujarat University will start offline examinations today for undergraduate and postgraduate students in their final year. 66,000 students will take the examinations in 70 centres across the state.

Originally, Gujarat University intended to hold an online examination before the offline examination. However, only 12,000 students opted for the online examination, so the university held the offline examinations first.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Technological University has decided to conduct a third online examination round for students taking their final-year examination.

On 2 September, GTU released a circular, asking students to fill out forms by 8 September. The examination will commence on 21 September. The vice-chancellor of the university, Navin Sheth, said that upon requests from students and parents, the examination will be held online, with a mock test being held on 15 September.

60,000 students are studying in colleges affiliated with GTU in the final semester. According to Sheth, as many as 5,000 students are yet to take their examinations. Such have either filled out forms for special examinations or missed the first two online examinations.

“In wake of Covid-19, students fear appearing for offline exams as it requires physical presence and increases chance of catching coronavirus,” Sheth said.
