IIIT Allahabad and Samarkand State University, Uzbekistan: Collaborated in the Academic Cultural Areas


IIIT(Indian Institute of Information Technology) Allahabad and Samarkand University have joined hands in academic cultural areas like interdisciplinary areas of research and studies.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two parties to solidify the agreement led by Prof.Shirshu Verma, Registrar of IIIT-Allahabad & Prof. RI Khalmurzaev, VC Samarkand University.

During the occasion, Prof. P Nagabhushan, Director of IIIT-Allahabad & Prof. Vijayshri Tiwari, head of the Management Department of the Samarkand University were also present there. 

Prof Nagabhushan stated that both institutes had agreed to indulge in academic as well as cultural areas. 

He also said that both the institutes will join hands to impart their academic knowledge and share their experiences towards finding best way-outs of the problems including mutual interest of both the parties. 

He added that it facilitates exchange of faculty for the purpose of delivering lectures, research and the meetings as well with the other similar activities.

 He shared that these institutes will help the students, encouraging them to participate in the student-exchange programmes. Additionally, it offers joint research projects and the setting up of joint seminars and conferences in the field of common interest.

However, MoU signed between the two parties is valid only for 4 years. An Indo-Uzbekistan centre of Information Communication Technology (ICT) will be established on the IIIT-A campus, Nagabhushan highlighted.

 A nine-member committee has been constituted for establishing the centre.

“Prof Shirshu Verma will be the coordinator while Vijayshri Tewari will be co-coordinator of this mission. Other members include Pritish Varadwaj, Madhvendra Misra, Vrijendra Singh, Suneel Yadav, Utkarsh Goel, Rekha Verma and Anshu Anand, he added.
