IIT Delhi Releases "Early Graduation" Policy for Final Year Students

Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Delhi has released an online policy for final year students to ensure that future plans of these students are not impacted due to the lockdown.

The policy offers early graduation option or regular graduation process for students who have less than a semester of graduation left.

The director of IIT Delhi Director V. Ramagopal Rao has tweeted the policy and has asked the students to send an email in case of any query regarding the same. The tweet read, “IIT Delhi policy for 2020 Graduating batch. For any other queries, please send an email to "arugs@admin.iitd.ac.in" with a copy to "deanacad@admin.iitd.ac.in". All mails which require a reply or clarification will be attended to in 24 hours’ time.”

According to this policy, students who are opting for early graduation will have two options- Audit Pass/fail or Credit option.

For the audit pass-fail option, instructors will declare the cut off and the process, keeping in mind the COVID related constraints.

Incase students opt for a Credit option, they will have to take up online tests, take-home exams, assignments, telephone viva-voice, etc as applicable.

The early graduation policy would be conducted online and no student would have to come to the campus for the graduation process.

Once instructors post their requirements for an Audit pass grade, students will be asked to exercise through an online portal.

"In case a student cannot complete graduation requirements by June-end with these options offered to them, they will have a fallback option to graduate when the semester reconvenes,” said Director of IIT Delhi V Ramgopal.

He further mentioned that the pass and fail percentages this year will be no different from the previous years. It will be our responsibility to ensure that no one is disadvantaged because of the prevailing COVID-19 situation.
